The 4-speed automatic transmission Ford 4R70W was produced from 1995 to 2002 in the USA and was installed on many powerful SUVs, as well as large rear-wheel drive sedans. This transmission is the successor to the famous AOD automatic transmission and has given way to the 4R75W gearbox.
