Automotive Animal Brands - Part 1

For more than a hundred years, when the automotive world was born forever, new brands of automakers were identified by a specific logo. Someone earlier, someone later, but a particular brand has always had its own identifier.

Mercedes has its star, Rover has a Viking boat, and Ford has a beautifully spelled proper name. However, on the road we can meet many cars that strongly identify with animals. Why did this manufacturer simply choose an animal as their logo? What was he in charge of at that moment? Let's try to answer this question.

Abarth is a scorpion

Abarth was founded in 1949 in Bologna. They specialized in getting as much power as possible from relatively small engines. As a distinguishing sign, Carlo Abarth chooses his zodiac sign, that is, a scorpion on a heraldic shield. According to Abarth's mind, scorpions have their own unique ferocity, lots of energy and will to win. Karl Abarth's love for the automotive industry led to great success. Over the 22 years of its existence, the company has celebrated more than 6000 victories and a lot of records, including speed records.

Ferrari - charging horse

The greatest brand in the world was created by a man who spent twenty years of his life in other Italian companies. When he started his own company, he had a magical aura. His cars are the most recognizable in the world, and the original logo only adds character to them. Enzo Ferrari's galloping horse logo was inspired by a talented World War I fighter pilot. Francesco Baracca had such a logo on his plane and indirectly gave the idea to the Italian designer. The great brand with the image of a horse, considered in Italy a symbol of happiness, has released more models that have become classics than any other company in the world.

Dodge is a ram's head

“Whenever you look at Dodge, Dodge is always looking at you,” fans of the American brand say. When the Dodge Brothers began building cars bearing their names in 1914, only the "D" and "B" from the "Dodge Brothers" name existed as logos. During the first decades, the company produced reliable cars. However, the American market had its own rules, and in the 60s it was decided to build more extravagant cars. Models like the Charger, the NASCAR-winning Charger Daytona, and the well-known Challenger have made history. What about the ram's head? This emblem was simply attributed to the company by the Chrysler concern, which in 1928 absorbed a competitor. The aforementioned ram's head was supposed to subconsciously inform about the solidity and solid construction of the proposed vehicles.

Saab - crowned griffin

Saab is one of the few automotive companies that have tried their hand at various areas of transport. Although Saab cars have been in production since World War II, the focus has been on aircraft and some trucks. The name Saab (Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget) indicates a close relationship with aviation.

The mythical griffin mentioned in the title appeared in 1969 when Saab merged with Scania. Scania was founded in the city of Malmö on the Skåne peninsula, and it is this city that bears the coat of arms of the majestic Griffin.

The automotive world can't get bored. Every detail hides a lot of interesting facts. In the second part, we will introduce more animal silhouettes from the world of cars.
