Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parking

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parking The Guinness Book of Records is known to everyone who is interested in freedom, lightness and humor. It contains important, trivial and even funny entries. It is important, however, that each achievement be incredible and larger than reality. It all started with sensational and humorous information addressed to the regulars of the pubs.

The idea for a collection of curiosities from around the world was born in the head of Sir Hugh Beaver, who was the director of the Guinness brewery. While hunting in 1951, he participated in a discussion about which European bird is the fastest. Unfortunately, such matters could not be quickly verified at the time. Then, realizing that in the pubs of Ireland and the UK there are many such questions every day, Beaver realized that a book answering such questions could become popular.

As a result, the first edition of the Guinness Book of Records was published in 1955. The circulation was only 1000 copies and ... the publication became a hit. A year later, the book was published in the United States with a circulation of 70. copies. Thus, "beer discussions" became the driving force behind the new edition.

Nowadays, videos are increasingly being recorded and posted on the YouTube platform. As a result, in addition to the same curiosities that guided the creation of this item, i.e. ideal for "bar discussion", watching recordings has become a home entertainment for many.

Of course, there are many entries in every field, and we encourage you to delve into the Book's resources. Today we present only a few randomly selected rarities in the automotive industry.

Tesla was driving at a speed of 40 km/h.

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingRemember the case when the city guard from Czersk sent a ticket with a photo from a speed camera to the owner, whose car was on a tow truck? No one reported the stupidity of the City Watch, which is a pity, because there is a certain place on the box. However, we found something similar in the Book of Records. Red Tesla was moving at a speed of 40 km/h.

The only secret is that it was when a red Tesla Roadster was attached to a Falcon Heavy rocket. He was moving at a speed of 11,15 km/s with respect to the Earth (i.e. approximately 40 km/h), and, consequently, Tesla was also moving at this speed.

What is the longest car?

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingIt was built in 1999 by Jay Orberg, a Hollywood specialist in creating incredible structures. Jay made a living by creating super-realistic world-famous cars for film and television. One of his famous works in Poland is the improved DeLorean DMC-12 from the film Back to the Future (USA, 1985).

Built in 1999, the American Dream is a 100-foot (30,5 meter) limousine created from two Cadillacs. The car has 26 wheels, two engines and a driver's seat on both sides of the car. Jay also packed the limousine with a host of Hollywood essentials. So there is, among other things: a jacuzzi, a water bed (of course, a king size), a heliport and ... a swimming pool with a trampoline.

The smallest car in the world

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingFor peace of mind, we also found the smallest car in the world in the Book of Records. It was built in 2012 by American Austin Coulson. Painted in the style of a P-51 Mustang military aircraft, this microcar is only 126,47 cm long, 65,41 cm wide and 63,5 cm high. For comparison, a road bike wheel has a diameter of approximately 142 cm.

The editors recommend: SDA. Lane change priority

Apparently, these dimensions were large enough for the Arizona DMV to give Coulson the right to drive this vehicle on roads with a speed limit of 40 km / h.

The most economical car?

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingHere we have a real car concert. It turns out there are a lot of subcategories now. Toyota boasts that the Mirai has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance for a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle on a single tank. In total, Toyota's hydrogen sedan traveled 845 miles (1360 km) on southern California roads. During this time, the car used up 5,65 kg of hydrogen, which took 5 minutes to refuel.

Meanwhile, Ford reports that the Ford Mustang Mach-E has driven over 6,5 miles using one kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity, which has been independently verified. With a full 88 kWh battery, the performance achieved means a range of more than 500 miles (804,5 km). For balance, I note that during the December tests in Poland, the range on my Mustang Mach-E was about 400 km.

Celebrity parade in Warsaw...

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingPresenting a rally with the largest number of vehicles is also quite common. So we can find the biggest parade: Fiats, Audi, Nissan, MG, Volvo, Ferrari, Seats or even Dacia. However, we were interested in the largest parade in the Book of Records, which took place at the Hippodrome in Służewec. It was the simultaneous drive of the largest number of hybrid vehicles. To break the record set by the Americans, it was necessary to assemble at least 332 cars that would drive in one column without stopping for at least 3,5 km. An additional requirement was to maintain a distance between cars, which would not exceed one and a half car lengths.

Most of the vehicles present in Warsaw (297 units) belonged to the PANEK CarSharing fleet. The rest came from Toyota dealers, as well as private owners and taxi companies.

At the beginning, the column of cars was 1 meter, after the start it was a little more than 800 meters, and ... it was on the same line with the track. To set it in motion, it was necessary to make 2 technical circles. All drivers had to be extremely focused, as the distances between cars were very small. The biggest problems were in the corners, where the column widened and there were gaps that prevented a smooth passage. Despite some temporary problems, all riders completed the start and finish twice without stopping, and we have a record.

But back to the forefront of the idea here:

Riding a big banana

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingIn 2011, Steve Braithwaite (resident of Michigan, USA) completed the construction of the longest "banana car" in the world. The model based on the Ford F-150 pickup has a length of almost 7 meters and a height of 3 meters.

The outer shell is made of fiberglass threaded polyurethane foam and is all painted in a unique fruit color.

The car cost about $25 and drove the Michigan Freeway to Miami (Florida), Houston (Texas), Providence (Rhode Island) and everywhere in between.

The narrowest parallel parking

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingLooking at some drivers who park their cars in front of supermarkets, it looks like they have chosen a car with an inline skate license.

However, the fact that Alastair Moffat, a professional stuntman, really seemed unlikely even for the greatest "parking confidence". At a sporting event in the UK, he "parked" the Fiat 500 C he was driving in a space 7,5 cm longer than the Fiat 500C.

Of course, it was not a parking lot, but a side skid. However, on the one hand, this is an additional detail, and on the other hand, the size of 7,5 cm makes a huge impression.

The arrow that didn't beat the Skoda RS

Guinness Automobile Records. Fastest car, longest car, tightest parallel parkingIt must be admitted that Robin Hood is an outstanding archer from England, but not only there they are excellent at handling a bow.

The Austrians convinced everyone of this. As seen in the video, the archer fires an arrow to drive the Skoda Octavia RS 245 away. However, when it reaches the Skoda level... the passenger catches it mid-flight.

All this happened 57,5 meters from the archer.

Aside from the fantastic spectacle, it's worth remembering that 1 degree of frame deflection to the side will result in a discrepancy of 57,5 cm at a height of 431 meters. So a lousy shooter would either send an arrow far from the Skoda, or ... in the back of a passenger.

The jaguar is a huge cat jumping through the trees, and the car...

For less insiders, we report that this was due to the premiere of the car in 2018.
