The world of motorsport is so diverse that the number of championships, cups and series is growing every year. Even the biggest fans can't keep up with all the fun races, but comparing different cars is often a subject of controversy.

Therefore, today with the Motor1 edition we will try to compare racing cars from different races, using their dynamic characteristics - acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h and maximum speed.

IndyCar

Maximum speed: 380 km / h

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h: 3 seconds

With regard to direct speed, the IndyCar series cars come to the fore, which reach speeds of up to 380 km / h. At the same time, however, it cannot be said that these cars are the fastest, since they are inferior to Formula 1 cars in aerodynamic efficiency. they are slower on smaller trails or trails with a lot of bends.

Formula 1

Maximum speed: 370 km / h

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h: 2,6 seconds

Comparing Formula 1 and IndyCar cars on an equal footing is quite difficult, since the calendar of the two championships is always different. Competitions in both series are held only on one track - COTA (Circuit of the Americas) in Austin.

Last year, the best qualifying time for a Formula 1 race was shown by Valteri Botas with Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The Finnish driver completed a 5,5 km lap in 1:32,029 minutes with an average speed of 206,4 km/h. Pole position in the IndyCar race was 1:46,018 (average speed - 186,4 km/h).

Formula 1 cars also benefit from acceleration, as they climb 100 km / h from standstill in 2,6 seconds and reach 300 km / h in 10,6 seconds.

MotoGP

Maximum speed: 357 km / h

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h: 2,6 seconds

The top speed record in the MotoGP series belongs to Andrea Dovizioso, who was set last year. During the preparation for the home Grand Prix on the Mugello track, the Italian pilot covered 356,7 km.

Cars from the Moto2 and Moto3 categories are slower at 295 and 245 km/h respectively. MotoGP motorcycles are almost as good as Formula 1 cars: acceleration to 300 km / h takes 1,2 seconds more - 11,8 seconds.

NASCAR

Maximum speed: 321 km / h

Acceleration 0-96 km / h (0-60 mph): 3,4 seconds

NASCAR (National Stock Car Racing Association) cars do not claim to be leaders in any of these disciplines. Due to their heavy weight, it is difficult for them to reach 270 km / h on an oval track, but if they manage to get into the airflow of the car in front, they reach 300 km / h. The absolute officially registered record is 321 km / h.

Formula 2

Maximum speed: 335 km / h

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h: 2,9 seconds

The capabilities of Formula 2 cars are such that drivers can adapt to a higher level, Formula 1, if they are invited to go there. Therefore, the competitions are held on the same tracks on the same weekend.

In 2019, Formula 2 pilots are inferior to Formula 1 pilots by 10-15 seconds per lap, and the maximum recorded speed is 335 km / h.

Formula 3

Maximum speed: 300 km / h

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h: 3,1 seconds.

Formula 3 cars are even slower, both due to less efficient aerodynamics and weaker engines - 380 hp. versus 620 in Formula 2 and over 1000 in Formula 1.

However, due to their lighter weight, Formula 3 cars are also quite fast, lifting 100 km / h from standstill in 3,1 seconds and reaching speeds of up to 300 km / h.

Formula E

Maximum speed: 280 km / h

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h: 2,8 seconds

The championship was originally called Formula 1 Retirement Race, but things got serious in 2018 with the debut of a new chassis developed by Dallara and Spark Racing Technology. One of the McLaren divisions took care of the delivery of the batteries.
