Cars of the future - the most interesting proposals of the Geneva exhibition

The Geneva International Motor Show is considered the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in Europe, and perhaps in the world. And there are reasons for this. This time also impressive is the number of vehicle launches that will have a real impact on the face of the automotive industry in the near future. From the beginning of January, journalists competed in spreading revelations about the announced premieres. Spy photos of camouflaged vehicles and pre-release information may have spoiled the uniqueness of this event a little. Fortunately, the producers made sure that not all information was leaked to the press. Until the opening of the entrances to the exhibition halls, the final appearance of many stands was shrouded in mystery. And, finally, Geneva reopened the gates of the automotive paradise, the main asset of which are unique concepts. Below you will find some of the ones that made the biggest impression on me.

BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept

One of the most beautiful cars that could be seen this year at the Geneva Fair. It impresses with its proportions and clean lines, which have been obtained by eliminating the pull handles. It is the epitome of sportiness, accentuated by large air intakes in the front bumper and elegant recesses in the muscular rear wing. The latter are designed to ventilate the brakes. All this is crowned with a heavily accented spoiler. Under the hood, you can expect a V8 engine with about 600 hp. The production version is expected to be released on film in 2019. This will also be a historic change. The flagship 7 line will be replaced by new models from the 8 line.

Skoda Vision X

With this model, Skoda proves that its stylists have great potential. This is the most popular model at the booth of the Czech manufacturer. It is distinguished by an interesting light yellow color and a modern body line. Vision X is also innovative in terms of drive. Skoda uses 3 energy sources. This innovative solution was achieved by using a classic petrol or gas combustion engine under the hood with an electric motor running on the rear axle. Vision X has all-wheel drive. The manufacturer guarantees that the production version will be similar to the concept shown at the exhibition in Switzerland.

Renault EZ-Go

Renault's bold vision for the car of the future. The presented model is an autonomous vehicle capable of moving without the presence of a driver. Easy access to the cabin is achieved thanks to the large rear opening with a ramp. This solution and a perfectly flat floor make the car convenient for people with disabilities and wheelchair users. The seats are arranged in a U-shape, which ensures the interaction of travelers. EZ-Go can accommodate 6 people and should be an alternative to public transport or Uber. Unlike other electric cars, Renault does not impress with performance. The maximum speed is limited to 50 km/h. This makes the French concept ideal for the city.

Lexus LF-1 Limitless

Stylistically, the car refers to the famous RX or NX models. The body line is reminiscent of GT class cars, and the high ground clearance seems to contradict this theory. Under the hood you will find a traditional internal combustion engine or a hybrid system, but versions powered by liquid hydrogen or a classic electric motor are also possible. The interior of the LF-1 Limitless is one step ahead of the competition. The Japanese completely abandoned pens. They have been replaced by screens and systems that detect touch and movement. Instead of a rear seat, we have two independent seats.

Subaru VIZIV Tourer concept

This is a futuristic vision of the combo of the future. Another car you might like. An aggressive front end, a powerful air intake in the hood, smooth lines of the body, the absence of exterior rear-view mirrors replaced by cameras, and powerful 20-inch wheels are the key to Subaru's success. For buyers choosing models from this manufacturer, it is very important to follow traditions. Therefore, it is in vain to look for ecological units under the hood. The presented model is equipped with a boxer internal combustion engine. The car will be equipped with an innovative Eye Sight system, a set of two cameras mounted on the windshield that collect data for a system that prevents collisions and collisions with pedestrians or cyclists.

Honda UrbanEV Concept

The first Honda car in many years that I really like. And comparisons to the Volkswagen Golf I or the Fiat 127p are irrelevant. The design has its own beauty. Unless the body shape is changed in the production version, it has a chance to achieve success similar to the Fiat 500. Gorgeous LED headlights and taillights go out as if they were not there at all. The traditional front seats have been replaced by a long bench seat, and a rectangular instrument panel displays all information electronically. An interesting fact is that the door does not open in the traditional way. The so-called "Kurolaps", which were known from the old Trabants, Fiats 500 or 600.

Sybil in GFG style

The project was developed by two great Italians - Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro. The concept of the model is based on cooperation with the Chinese energy company Envision. The car has four-wheel drive, and is also equipped with 4 electric motors (4 for each axle). The power reserve of the model is estimated at 2 km, and acceleration from 450 to 0 km / h takes only 100 seconds. An interesting solution is a huge windshield that can be moved over the hood. The idea is to make it easier to get into the car. The glass used here is automatically tinted under the influence of sunlight - which reinforces the impression that we are dealing almost with a spaceship. The interior is inspired by aviation. The steering wheel has been enriched with touchpad based controls.

SsangYong e-SIV electric car concept

For the first time with a clear conscience, you can write that the appearance of the model of this brand is not shocking in the negative sense of the word. The design of the car is a combination of a stylish coupe with the spaciousness of an SUV. The vehicle belongs to the category of autonomous vehicles. It uses radar and a multi-camera system to navigate effectively. Many functions of this car can be performed remotely from a smartphone. It includes power on and off, air conditioning, diagnostics and vehicle control.

Porsche Mission E Cross Touring

This Porsche model proves that the Germans have not forgotten about the environment. Two powerful electric motors have a power of 600 hp, which ensures acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3,5 seconds, dynamic acceleration will not affect the temporary loss of power. This proves that you can take care of the environment without sacrificing performance. Fully charged batteries provide a range of 500 km. In appearance, it is very difficult to classify the new Porsche. The high ground clearance and heavily cut rear end are reminiscent of a crossover that has been trendy lately. The premiere of the serial model is scheduled for next spring.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S

The 4-door coupe caught my eye with its unique matte blue paint job. Thanks to numerous reinforcements and the use of plastics, the car has incredible rigidity. Mercedes does not claim to be a sports car, it is. Under the hood is a 8-liter V4,0 engine with 639 hp. The torque is an impressive 900 Nm for excellent performance. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3,2 seconds is better than the aforementioned Porsche. Of course, the car is only available with 4WD and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes with this model probably wants to compete with the Porsche Panamera. The unchanged car will hit showrooms this summer.

Summation

The Geneva Motor Show shows where the leaders of the automotive industry want to go. Bold designs prove that stylists are still full of ideas. Most of the presented concept cars use an environmentally friendly power plant. This is further proof that the diesel era is gone forever. Now comes a new era - the era of electric vehicles. The dynamics of change in the automotive industry is good news for car enthusiasts. There will be many beautiful and unique cars in the near future.
