Some rules for the distribution of license plates

Many wonder why in Moscow, for example, the following regions were chosen “777” and not, say, “277”, which would be consistent, like the usual issuance of numbers.

There was an opinion that all areas on the license plate correspond to the size of GOST and all numbers, except for 1 and 7 in the three-digit version of the region, do not fit into the field of the region. Thus, the region "277" will go to the border of the region, which is unacceptable.

However, relatively recently, some media announced information that the numbers in the capital region are running out and the question arises: either change the numbers or add a region. In this case, it is said that the 277 and 299 regions will be introduced in Moscow.

At a certain moment, many Petersburgers began to be surprised at the appearance on the streets of St. Petersburg of numbers with region 82. As it turned out later, the region was made for Crimea, but the number of numbers for that region turned out to be too large and remained idle, so part of this series was sent for registration in Peter.

Issuance of car numbers

Important update: from August 4, 2019, the traffic police will stop issuing license plates, but will only assign the car the number itself. This means that if you want to register the car, you will receive a registration certificate, where your car number will be indicated: e 001 kx 98rus, and you must make the license plate itself in a third-party organization.

Of course, this innovation greatly complicates the process of registering a car. now you need to visit 2 places, first the traffic police, and then the company for the production of numbers.
