B&N, Police Action for Security

B&N, Police Action for Security Early twilight, changeable weather conditions, and at the same time darkly dressed pedestrians or unlit cyclists - this combination is very dangerous, not only outside settlements. This has led to an increase in the number of accidents involving them.

"Be visible, be safe", "Shine on the road", "Put on a reflector", "Safe senior" - these are just a few of the actions carried out by the traffic police of the Mazovian police garrison, which is aimed at improving the safety of vulnerable road users .

The need for preventive measures is confirmed by statistical data. From October 2016 to March 2017, 222 pedestrians died and 27 were injured in 211 accidents on Mazovian roads. During the same period, 67 pedestrian collisions occurred in undeveloped areas, in which 31 people died and 39 were injured. Seeing the need to counteract these adverse events, the police have taken a number of steps to improve road safety.

B&N, Police Action for SecurityOne of these is a preventive program called "B&N, or B for Safe and N for Unprotected", which serves to improve the safety of vulnerable road users through education and awareness of road users. Its main message is the thesis that the increase in road safety will be directly proportional to the increase in the number of conscious road users. The program is considered as a long-term action implemented by the zs provincial headquarters. in Radom. Among the numerous partners of the program are: the Mazovian Road Safety Council, the voivodship traffic centers in Radom, Siedlce, Ostroleka, Ciechanow and Płock, the Mazovian Education Office or the Mazovian Local Government Teacher Training Center in Warsaw, including all delegations in the sub-regions, educational institutions, local authorities municipalities and other entities.

Within the framework of the program, in cooperation with educational institutions, the so-called. "Banks of reflectors". They arose due to the need to redistribute the reflectors that were previously distributed. In this way, the officers wanted to reduce the “deficit of reflectors”, which, after “taking them out of the cabinet” and placing the reflectors in the bank, would receive the so-called. "second Life".

Information about the events held is posted on specially prepared "School boards of the BRD". It is assumed that these boards are placed in the center of the school so that they can be seen not only by students, but also by visitors to the facility. The promotion of this type of activity is aimed at the use and dissemination of materials for reflection, addressed not only to the students of this school, but primarily to the local community.

The first events of this kind began in September 2016, when in one day at one hour more than 6,5 children from 140 Mazovian kindergartens and schools took to the streets, in the area of pedestrian crossings, to promote the campaign. This year, the events were held simultaneously with the "Safe Road to School" campaign, and more than 10 people took part in them. Children.

Cyclists are just as important when it comes to road safety. We must remember that every cyclist, getting off the bike, becomes a pedestrian. Therefore, throughout the cycling season, we met with entire families and promoted the use of reflective vests as part of the “What a ride” campaign. It is not only the police who are responsible for improving safety on Mazovian roads, but also other institutions, organizations and partners with whom we cooperate. Together with them, we implement the postulates of many actions, activities, actions, such as: “Safe way to school”, “Safety turns me on”, etc.

Among the activities carried out by us during the autumn-winter period, starting from October of this year, the policemen of our garrison carry out tasks arising from many years of preventive and prophylactic measures called "SEEING ON THE ROAD - SAFE AFTER SUNSET". The activities are mainly aimed at improving the safety of vulnerable road users through the mandatory use of reflective elements for pedestrians and bicycle lighting. Each such intervention must end with the delivery of a reflective element to the offender, which ceases to be invisible and thus becomes safe.

Meanwhile, daily statistics show how much more needs to be done to improve road safety, and daily creativity must follow technological innovation and social expectations, and in order to meet them, we have created an email and a Facebook (Fanpage) social media profile called “ safe. unprotected." So far, there have been 585 messages posted that have reached almost 360 recipients and have been viewed more than 638 times.

Officers through social networks, local and federal media promote the fashion for wearing reflective elements and the idea of partnership on the road. They talk less about the legal consequences of the events and focus more on the need to, for example, "give yourself a chance" through the use of reflectors and correct road behavior.
