Trunk for everyone
Sales of car trunks are growing every year. Not surprisingly, the offer is getting bigger and more sophisticated.
Surprisingly, companies that sell car trunks are recording more and more. turnover.
- Sales of new cars affect the sales of parts and accessories, but not as much as you might think, because a lot of used cars are imported. Many of the buyers of these vehicles are our customers,” says Jacek. Radosh, sales director of Taurus from Mikolov, which is the exclusive importer of Italian Fapa luggage carriers, and CEO of Thule (formerly Swedish, now owned by the English corporation Candover). – The reason for the rapid development of the luggage market in our country is the change in the habits of the Poles. More and more people are actively spending their free time, i.e. cycling, surfing, snowboarding and skiing. All of them must have an appropriate luggage rack for transporting equipment, says Miroslav Kordyszewski, president of Warsaw-based Inter Pack, a leading distributor of transport accessories in the country.
new offer
Retailers are quick to respond to the growing interest in roof racks by introducing new models, often from new manufacturers (such as the Inter Pack of the Japanese company Carmate, which owns 90% of the market in their country), adapting the offer to the needs and pockets of customers. . Actually, today there is no car that would not fit the most suitable rack, there are bike racks attached to the tow hook. src="https://d.motofakty.pl/art/8j/hd/6c9zdps8o4k4kcw40o800/426c8aa3eee8b-d.310.jpg" align="left"> except maybe some newer cars. Their manufacturers place special slots on the roofs of their models so that they can be bought from car dealers (this is the case, for example, with the Peugeot 407). Manufacturers of roof racks protect themselves from this by designing special adapters that allow mounting any carrier system on the roof of a car.
According to President Kordyszewski, Poles most often buy aluminum racks: they are more aesthetic, lighter and more resistant to corrosion than steel ones. Most of the luggage and sports equipment is still transported on the roofs of their cars. “It's almost a tradition, so roof load-bearing systems are in the greatest demand. But for the transport of bicycles, customers are increasingly choosing designs that are attached to the towbar. This is a very growing trend,” says the owner of Inter Pack. Tow bar bike racks are the most technologically advanced, the strongest, the most secure, and thanks to them you can carry two to four bikes. Their price, depending on the equipment (for example, locks for bicycles), ranges from PLN 1. up to PLN 2,5 thousand. More simple designs cost PLN 700-800.
Bicycle holders placed on the trunk lid of a car are not very popular, and sellers do not encourage buying them. “Due to the poor condition of many Polish roads, they are not very safe for the car, they can even cause the car cover to open when driving over bumps,” says Krzysztof Wienckowski, Hossa's shop manager from Warsaw.
What to buy?
The trunk must correspond to the size, and therefore, to the size and permissible load capacity of the car. “It is worth thinking about what will be transported,” says Krzysztof Wienckowski. The roof rack should provide safe transportation, be functional, easy to use, assembly instructions should be clear. A lot of people are price oriented, but director Jacek Rados says more and more people are buying more expensive luggage because it tends to be “multi-year purchases” and those on the top shelves are not only “more expensive.” ". aesthetic, but also much easier to fit "to individual needs."
