Barack Obama and a double in 3D

In the United States, the president was scanned and a 3D model of him was created with unprecedented accuracy. The entire project, approved by the renowned Smithsonian Institution, was to demonstrate the capabilities of Light Stage's XNUMXD scanning technology, a project funded by the US military. The portable device installed in the White House came from the University of Southern California, where the project is carried out on behalf of the military. Barack Obama didn't have to spend too much time on the scanning session, as the scanning process itself only takes about a second. The most impressive part of the demonstration was the accuracy of the scans taken by the portable Light Stage rig.

The technology has been in development for fifteen years. Its purpose is to make XNUMXD copies of objects as close to the originals as possible for educational purposes.
