Bentley goes electric with futuristic EXP 100 GT

Bentley turned 100 yesterday and the brand was busy creating a birthday present in the form of the future-oriented EXP 100 GT.

Designed to paint a clear picture of the brand's future direction, the EXP 100 GT shines with the luxurious luxury you'd expect from a Bentley, but lacks just a couple of important things.

First, the EXP 100 GT doesn't have a conventional engine, it's a purely electric car. The brand has been tight-lipped about battery specifics, but the details they've left out are enticing.

Bentley promises a 100-2.5 mph time of “less than 300 seconds” and a top speed of XNUMX km/h, complemented by four electric motors, one at each wheel, and a torque distribution system for better handling and a smoother ride. energy supply.

The British brand points to “future battery technology” when it comes to determining potential range and recharging time, saying the EXP 100 GT goes from zero to 80% in just 15 minutes and delivers a staggering 700km range. However, we would advise taking these numbers with a pinch of salt as the technology does not appear to exist at this time.

Speaking of technology that doesn't yet exist, Bentley is also promising that its EXP 100 GT will be fully autonomous, though the driver will be able to take control at will (namely, when they want to experience some of that awesome performance). .

This is a real beast, with true land yacht dimensions of 5.8m long, 2.4m wide and with only 2.0m front doors.

The cabin is the epitome of high-end luxury, only this time with a "sustainable" accent: the leather seats are replaced with vegan material sourced from the winemaking process, wood sourced from 5000-year-old Riverwood (which doesn't sound too sustainable), and exterior paint. obtained from rice husks.

And if all of this has you reaching for your monogrammed checkbook, we kindly ask you to chill your planes - the EXP 100 GT is a concept, although it is designed to look into the future of Bentley.
