In autumn, drivers should take into account the worsening weather conditions, which directly affect driving. More and more foggy days, rain, lower temperatures and wet leaves on the road are a clear signal to slow down.

Difficult conditions in autumn 

Under such conditions, the braking distance is significantly increased. Remember that the speeds shown on the signs are the maximum speed for that section. On the road you need to be guided by common sense. Let's adjust the speed according to the prevailing weather conditions as well as traffic. 

We must also remember to properly prepare the car - working wipers, clean headlights, and while driving, keep a safe distance from the car in front.

If the temperature drops, it is worth thinking about changing winter tires. The optimal operating window for winter tires begins when the air temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius.   

Be especially careful with transitions 

Unfortunately, there are still too many accidents involving pedestrians at marked crossings. In 2019, pedestrian crashes on roads administered by the General Administration of National Roads and Highways accounted for 13% of all crashes, and pedestrian deaths accounted for 21% of all road deaths.

Especially now, in the autumn-winter period, when visibility drops, you should be especially careful at pedestrian crossings and pay attention to unprotected road users.
