BMW 325d Performance

But this time we are not talking about loading unnecessary (well, whoever) electronics, comfortable accessories and the like. The Performance label denotes accessories from a special list called BMW Performance, which gives this 3 Series Sedan a completely new character.

Let's start with a plain white 325d. Don't be fooled by the 325 label - of course there's a three-litre six-cylinder engine in the nose (which exists as the 325d, 330d and twin-turbo as the 335d). The 325d designation means just under 200 "horsepower" (and a much lower number on the price list than the 245 "horsepower" 335d), of course, due to engine computer settings.

There is also less torque, but an important difference: the largest is available a whopping 450 rpm lower, at just 1.300 rpm. So it's no surprise that after a few days of testing, we were surprised to find that we mostly drive between 900 and 1.400 rpm, that the engine in this area, which prepares most diesels for breathing, useless vibration and rumble, is quiet, smooth. , especially, but resolutely and lively.

And therefore, the average speed of movement can be 100 kilometers per hour (and no, it includes not only the highway, but also the highway, and a little city driving), and the consumption is less than seven liters. And at the same time, you can still play with the slipping of the butt here and there, which is even more pleasant in such a trio.

One of the hooks from the list of accessories was for the M sports chassis and 19-inch wheels on extremely light rims (even an M3 wouldn't be ashamed of them), and all the fears of awesome driving (which is usually the result of such a sports chassis) first ride on these pesky teams speed bump was smashed: in them, this 325d was more comfortable than many more family and less sporty cars.

Other accessories? Aerodynamics package (with carbon fiber spoilers front and rear), carbon fiber exterior mirrors with multiple lines at the top of the thighs. Still pretty calm, but enough for a lot of M3 drivers to hurry after us to see what the hell it is.

And inside? Even more carbon fiber and, above all, great, unimaginably comfortable shell seats. At first glance, you fear that they will be too stiff, too narrow, with edges too high for easy entry and exit, and also uncomfortable due to the height adjustment (well, they become adjustable with a small tool). However, after two weeks of use, it turned out to be one of the best seats found in cars today. Mostly.

Less fortunate accessories are the steering wheel and gear lever. The former has adjustable LEDs that indicate when to shift (yellow, red, then everything flashes) and a small LCD screen that can display lap times, longitudinal or lateral accelerations and disturbances (along with steering wheel buttons in the bulges of a large finger. ) to set up the system.

Unfortunately, the steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara, which means permanently dry hands and a slippery steering wheel, unless you're wearing racing gloves. Otherwise, you are better off staying with the skin. The image refers to the gear lever: it's aluminum (so hellishly hot in summer and cold in winter) and much shorter, which means the elbow support will get in the way even more (and may pinch your finger). ...

But overall, a trio with the right accessories (such as the BMW Performance) is a car that's easy to fall in love with at first sight and enjoy more and more from a mile away. You just need money. Specifically: a lot of money.

evaluation

  • This 325d is perfect for those who want (not too expensive) diesel, drive (usually) economically, but also want a car that knows and can deliver driving pleasure when their heart (and right foot) wants it.
