BMW 430i Gran Coupé - color my world!

Unfortunately, in Poland, buyers most often choose cars in muted colors. Silver, grey, black. The streets lack panache and grace - cars bring a smile. However, recently a car appeared in our editorial office, which almost no one followed. This is a BMW 430i Gran Coupe in characteristic blue.

While you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, it's hard not to be impressed at first glance with a proof copy. We've known blue metallic paint so far from the pugnacious M2. However, the long line of the elegant five-door coupe looks just as great in it. Just thanks to him, in a seemingly quiet car there is this “something”.

Full of contradictions

While the exterior of the BMW 430i Gran Coupé is expressive and bright, the interior is an oasis of calm and elegance. The interior is decorated in dark colors, broken by aluminum inserts and blue stitching. Black, leather seats are very comfortable and have a wide range of adjustments in many directions and inflated sidewalls. However, what is surprising in a car of this class, they are controlled manually. However, all this makes a very good impression. We will not find there any excess of form over content, no excess of decorations, no ill-conceived solutions. The interior is the epitome of elegance and simplicity at its best.

Although the inside of the car is quite dark, and the gray inserts do not really enliven it, the inside does not give the impression that it is dark or cramped. An aluminum insert on the dashboard visually expands the cabin. We can let some light in through the sunroof. A pleasant surprise was the fact that driving on a sunny day did not end with an unbearable hum in the cabin. The sunroof is designed in such a way that even when driving at higher speeds, it is completely quiet inside.

Before the eyes of the driver is a very classic and simple dashboard. While other manufacturers go out of their way to impress consumers by placing LCD screens in front of their eyes, the Bavarian brand has chosen simplicity in this instance. At the disposal of the driver are classic analog instruments with orange illumination, reminiscent of old BMWs.

Even though the BMW 4 Series doesn't seem like a big car, there's plenty of room inside. There is a little less room in the front row than in the Series 5. The rear seat is also a pleasant surprise, as with the driver's height of about 170 centimeters, there is about 30 centimeters of legroom for rear passengers behind the driver's seat. . The sofa is profiled in such a way that, taking a place in the second row of seats, the two extreme passengers will slightly “fall through” into the seat. However, the rear position is quite comfortable and we can easily cover a long distance.

Heart in the rhythm of four cylinders

Since the introduction of new model designations by the BMW brand, it is difficult to guess which model we are dealing with by the emblem on the tailgate. Don't let the 430i fool you that the three-litre cylinders under the hood are crazy. Instead, we have a quiet two-liter petrol unit with 252 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. Maximum torque is available relatively early for a spark ignition engine, in the 1450-4800 rpm range. And it really feels like the car accelerates greedily, picking up from the very bottom. We can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5,9 seconds. If we were to analyze this blue beauty in the sports car category, which can be encouraged with accessories from the M Power package, it would be a bit lacking in claws. However, for everyday dynamic driving, a two-liter engine is more than enough.

The eight-speed automatic transmission is smooth, but… worthy. She will think longer, but when she comes up with it, she will give the driver exactly what he expects from her. This is not to say that it works too slowly, but it has another advantage - they did not have "deaf" gears. The fact that it takes her time to "figure out" what the driver is up to, but when she does, it flawlessly lives up to expectations. He doesn't panic, he moves down, up, down again and again. Regardless of the situation, the gearbox moves into a position that "you will be pleased." An additional plus is that when driving at a speed of about 100-110 km / h, the tachometer shows a calm 1500 rpm, the cabin is quiet and calm, and the instantaneous fuel consumption is less than 7 liters.

The fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer in the city is 8,4 l / 100 km. In practice, a little more. However, during normal driving, it should not exceed 10 liters. Taking your foot off the gas can bring the consumption down to about 9 liters in the city, but by letting your imagination run wild and chasing the bull at a fairly lively pace, you have to factor in the values. 12 liters for a distance of 100 kilometers.

In terms of driving, the Quadruple Gran Coupé is hard to deny perfection. xDrive all-wheel drive provides excellent traction in all conditions and gives you a feeling of safety even when driving fast. And this is regardless of the weather, because even in heavy rain there is no feeling of any uncertainty.

The dual exhaust in the BMW 430i Gran Coupe makes a very pleasant "welcome" sound. Unfortunately, while driving, a pleasant rumbling in the cabin is no longer audible. But getting into the car in the morning and waking the engine from sleep after a cold night, a pleasant growl will reach our ears.

Sound, look, ride. The BMW 430i Gran Coupe is one of those cars you miss. One of those that you look back at when you leave it in the parking lot and look forward to the moment you get behind the wheel of this smile generator again.
