BMW CE 04: the new electric maxi scooter in detail
The new BMW CE 04, based on the concept of the same name, describes in detail all its technical characteristics. Available with or without a license, deliveries begin in early 2022.
BMW's new electric maxi scooter, introduced in 2020 as a concept, is finally presented in its final form. The successor to the hugely popular BMW C-Evolution, the CE 04 follows in many ways the original concept, which was inspired by the Link concept that appeared in 2017.
Many of the practical elements presented by the concept have also been retained. Thus, we find on the side a hatch for storing the driver's helmet, as well as an impressive 10.25-inch TFT touchscreen. With mapping integration, it also provides access to many of the scooter's functions.
Two versions: A1 and A2
Mounted between the battery and the rear wheel, the BMW CE 04 engine features permanent magnet technology. To reach a wider audience, BMW offers it in two configurations. Available through simple resolution 125 (A1), the former is limited to a nominal power of 11 kW and a peak value of 23 kW. More powerful, the second one requires an A2 license. It develops rated power up to 15 kW and peak power up to 31 kW.
In both cases, the maximum speed is limited to 120 km / h, and the torque reaches 62 Nm.When accelerating, the version with the A2 license does a little better. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.1 seconds, while the unlicensed version takes 9,9 seconds for the same exercise.
When used, the CE 04 offers three driving modes: Eco, Road and Rain. Added to this is the "Dynamic" mode, which will ensure the maximum performance of the machine. Automatically, the regeneration changes depending on the selected driving mode.

Up to 130 km of autonomy
The lithium-ion battery, identical for both versions, has an energy capacity of 8,9 kWh (147,6 V - 60.6 Ah). This is less than the BMW C-Evolution, the latest version of which developed up to 12 kWh. Surprisingly, this is a less powerful version with the least autonomy. According to the WMTC two-wheeler standard, this limit is limited to 100 kilometers, while the licensed version displays up to 130 km with a charge.
The BMW CE 2.3 is equipped with a 04 kW on-board charger as standard and charges in approximately 4:20 hours. The € 1 quick charge option allows you to use a 240 kW charger. It is sufficient to limit the charging time to about 6.9: 1.

From 12 € in France
Determined not to succumb to technological escalation, BMW manages to offer its new electric scooter at a more affordable price than its predecessor. If the price of the C-Evolution exceeded 15 euros, then the new BMW CE 000 starts at 04 euros in the basic version, while the price of the A12 and A150 configurations is identical.
The manufacturer also offers a converted version. Called CE 04 PRO, it includes, among other things, heated handles, alarm, pneumatic pressure indicator, center stand and adaptive lighting. Its cost is 13 euros.
Of course, the BMW CE 04 is available for long term rental. After 36 months and 20 km, the basic version starts at € 000 per month without commissioning and maintenance costs. For the PRO version, monthly payments go up to 180 €.
Production of BMW's electric maxi scooter is scheduled for late 2021. In France, the first deliveries to consumers are expected in early 2022.
