BMW i8: Bavarian "other" sports car will arrive in June - Preview

On daily commutes from home to work with a fully charged battery at the start, BMW claims the i8's fuel consumption is less than 5 liters per 100 kilometers.
If the route includes suburban or motorway sections, fuel consumption of less than 7 liters per 100 km can be obtained. Even on long journeys and at higher speeds, it remains below 8 l / 100 km.
The new BMW i8's fuel economy is also aided by its low weight (1.485 kg empty) and a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0,26.
The battery charging time is from two to three hours, depending on the type of connection to a household outlet or charging column.
Plug-in hybrid system
The plug-in hybrid system in the BMW i8 consists of a 231 hp TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder petrol engine. with a torque of 320 Nm and a synchronous hybrid electric motor with an output of 131 hp. and 250 Nm.
The electric powertrain is powered by a high-voltage lithium-ion battery (5,2 kWh) and intelligent energy management that always takes into account the driving situation and the driver's needs.
Price? not yet checked out, but supercar The German hybrid should cost between 130 and 150.000 euros, depending on the type of equipment.
