The battery charging time is from two to three hours, depending on the type of connection to a household outlet or charging column.

Plug-in hybrid system

The plug-in hybrid system in the BMW i8 consists of a 231 hp TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder petrol engine. with a torque of 320 Nm and a synchronous hybrid electric motor with an output of 131 hp. and 250 Nm.

The electric powertrain is powered by a high-voltage lithium-ion battery (5,2 kWh) and intelligent energy management that always takes into account the driving situation and the driver's needs.
