BMW Personal Mover: an electric scooter designed for professional use

A personal transporter aimed at the industrial sector, the BMW Personal Mover is currently being tested at several sites of the German manufacturer and may eventually be sold to third parties.

In large industrial sites, travel can quickly become labor intensive for personnel. According to BMW, employees may be required to travel up to 12 kilometers per day to transport small equipment. It was from this observation that the brand decided to develop an electric car capable of responding effectively to these small daily commutes: the BMW Personnal Mover.

Weighing only 20 kg, the Personal Mover is a 60 cm wide x 80 cm long plate on which the user is placed. The super-maneuverable machine can rotate 360 ​​degrees. 

Special feature: The steering column contains the entire electrical system, from the battery to the engine. The BMW Personal Mover has a thumb trigger on the steering wheel that acts as an accelerator on the right side, while the brake and dead man button are located on the left side. For security reasons, the bell informs about the arrival of the car.

The Personal Mover's ability to reach speeds of up to 25 km / h is limited to 12 km / h for industrial use. In terms of autonomy, it allows you to travel 20 to 30 kilometers on a single charge, which is more than enough to cover a working day.

At the moment, tested on various websites of the German brand, the BMW Personal Mover can be sold by a third for the second time. According to BMW, discussions are already underway with operators of airports, exhibition centers and shopping centers interested in the concept.
