In order to use the headlights of our vehicles correctly, safely and profitably, several rules must be observed. Let's start with the simplest actions, i.e. maintaining the purity of the world. Clean headlight and taillight lenses improve visibility for us and other road users. Always wipe the headlights with a damp soft cloth. Using a dry cloth or paper towels can scratch glasses, especially plastic glasses. If the vehicle is used for a long time, it is also recommended to clean the inside of the rear light lenses. Over the years of operation, dust, dust and a lot of moisture got inside them. Together, these factors create a gray coating that reduces light emission inside the lamp. After removing the lamp and taking out the cartridges, we can wash it in warm water with the addition of dishwashing liquid. After that, the inside of the lamp must be thoroughly dried. Also clean the reflectors and bulbs (with a soft, damp cloth) before installing the flashlight into the housing. By the way, let's look at light bulbs. If any of them have a darkened or tarnished bubble, replace it. If the luminaire uses colored bulbs (orange bulb) and one of them needs to be replaced, both should be replaced at the same time. Replacing both lamps ensures that they have the same brightness.
In vehicles equipped with a headlight washer system, check that the washer nozzle is set correctly or check the wiper. Also, do not forget to fill the headlight washer reservoir with antifreeze.
A typical headlight failure is bulb burnout. If one bulb is damaged, always replace a pair (same type of bulbs in the same type of headlights, eg H7 in both dipped beams, H4 in both headlights). Replacing a pair of bulbs provides the same light output from the headlights and does not reduce the area illuminated by a partially used bulb. When attaching the bulbs to the headlights, do not touch them with your fingers. Grease and dirt from fingers can degrade the light output of the light bulb or cause the light bulb to burst when exposed to high heat.
I warn against installation on headlights adapted for halogen lamps, xenon “light bulbs”. Firstly, such an operation is illegal, and secondly, the headlights modified in this way blind other road users. Also, you can not use lamps with two-color flasks, increased power or filled (according to the manufacturer) with inert gases that increase the brightness of the emitted light flux. Such light bulbs are supplied to the market by Far Eastern or American companies. These 
Light sources, as a rule, do not comply with the requirements of current regulations - they are not approved, often cause overheating of the headlights and, as a result, deformation of their optical elements. You should not pay for the short-term effect of blue light by replacing a damaged reflector. Always use approved lamps made by well-known and reputable companies.
Another problem in automotive lighting concerns headlight wear. The headlight glass during vehicle operation is constantly bombarded with sand particles, stones and chemicals used for winter road maintenance. After a few years, the surface of the glass becomes matte, you can see small defects and scratches on it. Such glass significantly scatters the light beam coming from the reflector, which reduces its range. Diffused headlights dazzle other drivers, especially in rain or fog. The same applies to deep scratches or cracks in the glass (for example, from stone impact). Matted and scratched reflector glass should be replaced with a new one. The experience of leading manufacturers of lighting equipment shows that the replacement of headlight glasses due to their wear should be carried out approximately every 150-170 thousand. km of the vehicle.
The last recommendation concerns checking the headlight adjustment. Headlight adjustment should always be made after any work related to their disassembly or replacement. We also install headlights after repairing or replacing elements of the front and rear suspension. We check and, if necessary, adjust the lighting setting every year, for example before the autumn/winter season or after changing lamps.
