Subtle styling changes from the standard DBX include a redesigned grille and new DRL signature.

Aston Martin has released a new version of its DBX SUV which it claims is the best in the world.

Dubbed the DBX707, the moniker refers to the metric horsepower that comes from its Mercedes-AMG twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

This figure corresponds to 520 kW of power and a whopping 900 Nm of torque. That's 115kW/200Nm more than the standard DBX.

None of its high-end competitors can match these numbers. The Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S and GLS63 S, which use a version of the same V8 engine, develop 450 kW/850 Nm.

Others including Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT (471 kW/850 Nm), Audi RS Q8 (441 kW/800 Nm), Bentley Bentayga Speed (467 kW/900 Nm), Rolls-Royce Cullinan V12 Black Badge (441 kW/ 900 Nm) and even Lamborghini Urus (478 kW). /850Nm) are behind Aston.

Deliveries of the DBX707 to Australia will start in the second quarter of this year and the price is set at $428,400 before travel, about $72,000 more than the regular DBX.

It's cheaper than the Bentayga Speed ($491,000) and Cullinan (starting at $659,000), but more expensive than the Urus ($391,698) and Cayenne ($336,100). For the same money as a DBX707, you could buy two Audi RS Q8 ($213,900XNUMX).

The British performance car brand claims the DBX707 can hit 0 km/h in around 100 seconds (that's a 3.3-0 mph time), slightly faster than the Urus (62s) and Bentayga Speed (3.6s) .

To get more power and torque from the 4.0-litre V8, Aston Martin engineers custom-tuned it and fitted it with ball-bearing turbochargers. The DBX707 drives all four wheels through a new nine-speed wet clutch automatic transmission designed to help handle the increased torque.

A new version of the DBX electronic limited slip differential is also designed to help handle the extra torque. It also aided cornering, Aston says.

The new super SUV has a special chassis setup and uses the same air suspension as the standard DBX. Changes to damper settings and other suspension improvements provide better body control, while a retuned power steering system delivers crisper steering response.

It features a Race Start setting as part of the GT Sport and Sport+ driving modes for even more punchy acceleration.

Styling changes include a larger grille and redesigned daytime running lights, a new front splitter, redesigned air intakes and brake cooling ducts, and brushed chrome and gloss black touches. At the rear, there's a new roof spoiler, a larger rear diffuser and quad tailpipes.

It rides on 22-inch wheels, but 23-inch alloy wheels are optional.

Inside, the DBX707 has a lower console than the DBX, new drive mode switches, sports seats, and a choice of interior and trim themes.

Cars Guide contacted Aston Martin Australia to see if the DBX707 would be available in Australia and to confirm pricing.
