Bosch eBike 2017: news and changes

As every year, the Bosch eBike system is evolving to better adapt to market changes and user expectations. Focus on the innovations and changes to the Bosch eBike 2017 system.

Purion: the new compact console

Bosch eBike 2017: news and changesDesigned to complement the current Intuivia and Nyon displays, the Purion console will arrive in 2017 and will offer a minimalist display with two buttons accessible without having to let go of the steering wheel.

The small but robust Bosch Purion display will retain all the basic functions of the Bosch eBike system: walking assistance, 4 levels of assistance, and a mini-USB port for connecting the supplier's diagnostic tools.

On all of its consoles, Bosch will also offer a maintenance monitoring system from 2017 to notify the user of maintenance times for their electric bike. A feature that should delight resellers.

1000 Wh of energy thanks to the dual battery

It has to be said that Bosch hasn't really bothered to design its 1000 Wh battery. While some vendors are working on a complete kit, the German group is limited to daisy-chaining two 500Wh batteries with a Y-cable to increase autonomy.

Specifically, the system will be especially useful for motorcycles that require a lot of energy or for those who enjoy long journeys. A priori there will be no possibility of "retrofitting" of already sold models.

New charger in pocket format.

It is not always convenient to carry a charger with you ... Bosch has taken customer feedback into account and is preparing to release a new charger as an option in a compact format, 40% smaller than the current charger. The weight is also reduced by 200 grams.

Be careful with charging times, this mini charger announces 6 hours to fully charge a 30 Wh battery compared to 500: 3 for a regular Bosch charger.

Other changes

Other changes announced by Bosch include changes to the high-quality Nyon display, which will have new map controls and improvements to the system for estimating the remaining range according to route topography.

Bosch is also upgrading the communication system between its displays and the eShift automatic transmission system and will simplify the use of Walk Assist by eliminating the need to constantly press a button to activate the assistance.
