Brabus reaches its limit
We recently wrote about a Mercedes that Brabus turned into a geek's dream. Now court tuner Mercedes is adding mania to power and speed, creating a car that he describes as the most powerful and fastest sedan in the world.
The name comes from the V12 engine, like the one used in the latest Mercedes 600, which Brabus engineers, however, have figured out a bit. The working volume has been increased from 5,5 liters to 6,3 liters. The engine received larger pistons, a new crankshaft, camshaft, new cylinder heads and, finally, a new exhaust system. An intake system enlarged as much as the space under the bonnet of the Mercedes S will allow. It is made of carbon fiber, which allowed for a slight reduction in weight. The engine is equipped with four turbochargers and four intercoolers. With all this, the engine controller was also changed.
Improvements made it possible to raise engine power to 800 hp. and get a maximum torque of 1420 Nm. However, Brabus limited the available torque to 1100 Nm, justifying it technically. Not only torque was limited, but also speed. In this case, however, the limit is 350 km / h, so there is nothing to complain about.
The five-speed automatic transmission, which transmits the drive to the rear axle, has also been updated. A limited slip differential is also available as an option.
When the first 100 km / h appear on the speedometer, only 3,5 seconds pass on the speedometer, when the arrow passes the figure of 200 km / h, the stopwatch shows 10,3 seconds.
Everyone can step on the accelerator, but keeping such a dynamic car on the right track is a more difficult task. To cope with such dynamics, the car had to be specially prepared. The active body suspension has the ability to lower the ride height by 15 mm, which lowers the center of gravity and therefore improves stability when driving fast.
The wheels have been increased from 19 to 21 inches. Behind the six-spoke discs are large brake discs with 12 pistons at the front and 6 at the rear.
Brabus put the car in a wind tunnel, and also worked on improving the airflow of the body. Some elements have been changed in the results obtained.
New bumpers with larger air intakes provide better engine and brake cooling. There are also new halogen headlights and LED daytime running lights. The front spoiler, located in the bumper, is another carbon fiber element. The rear spoiler can also be made from this material.
Inside are the most characteristic elements of computer equipment from the "Business" package, which first used Apple devices, incl. iPad and iPhone.
Stylistically, leather prevails in a very exclusive edition and in a wide range of colours. Alcantara upholstery and wood trim are also available.
The full kit also requires a driver who can't manage that herd of horsepower and will keep it in line.
