“Will I have more fuel when I slow down?” Or what to know before replacing an electric vehicle with an internal combustion engine •

Reader J3-n sent us a description that appeared on the UK Electric Vehicle Owners' Forum, a UK group of electric vehicle owners. This joke, but he made a big impression on us because he presented the topic of electric vehicles from a completely different perspective - the way people will look at it 10 years from now. Therefore, we decided to translate it into Polish.

We have converted the units to local ones for readability. We used the feminine form in translation, because we were always amazed by the fact that women are not afraid to ask difficult questions and do not consider knowledge about cars a matter of honor, life and death, etc. Here is the text:

We are considering the possibility of switching from an electric car to a gas one. But before we decide, we want to ask a few questions to confirm that this is the right decision.

1. I heard that gasoline cars cannot be refueled at home. This is true? How often do I need to refuel elsewhere? And will it be possible in the future to refuel at home?

2. What parts will require service and when? The seller mentioned the timing belt and oil, which need to be changed regularly. Who are they? And will any indicator alert me when it's time to change?

3. Can I accelerate and brake with one pedal like I do today on an electric car? Will I have more fuel when I slow down? I think so, so please make sure ...

4. The gasoline car I tested reacted with some delay to the rush of gas to the metal. Is this typical of combustion vehicles? The acceleration itself was also not very impressive. Maybe the only problem is the car I drove?

> More smog in the air = higher risk of stroke. The poorer the region, the more severe the consequences

5. Currently we pay about PLN 8 for 1 km (electricity costs). We are told that with a gasoline car, the costs are five times higher, so at first I will lose money. We drive 50 XNUMX kilometers a year. Hopefully more people start using gasoline and fuel prices can drop! However, is this trend visible today?

6. Is it true that gasoline is flammable ?! If so, do I need to keep it in the tank when the car is parked in the garage? Or should I drain it and leave it somewhere else? Is there any automatic function to prevent fire in case of an accident?

7. I realized that the main ingredient in gasoline is crude oil. Is it true that the extraction and processing of crude oil causes local and global environmental problems, conflicts and wars that have resulted in the deaths of tens of millions of people over the past 100 years? And do we have a solution to this problem in sight?

Perhaps I will have more questions, but they are basic for me. Thanks in advance to everyone who would think to share your opinion with me.
