2019 Bugatti Divo: New $8M Hypercar Confirmed

New $8M Bugatti hypercar to be unveiled in August

Bugatti teased its latest offering; a $7.8 million hypercar that prioritizes cornering and performance over top speed.

While Bugatti models like the Veyron and Chiron are designed with the relentless pursuit of insane acceleration and top flight speed in mind, the brand promises the Divo will be different.

However, the Divo won't slouch - it's expected to use the same platform and powertrain as the ballistic Chiron, including its turbocharged four-cylinder W16 engine with 1118kW and - wait - 1600Nm.

But according to Bugatti president Stefan Winkelmann, it will also be "made for cornering".

"Happiness is not far away. This is the corner. The Divo is built for cornering,” he says.

“With Divo, we want to impress people all over the world. With this project, the Bugatti team has the opportunity to interpret the brand's DNA in terms of agility and agility in a much more performance-oriented way."

The name is taken from Albert Divo, a French Bugatti driver in the 1920s who claimed the Targo Florio twice.

So what do we know? Well, we know that Bugatti promises "enormous downforce and g-force" thanks to the Divo's significantly lower curb weight than the Chiron and a new focus on dynamics and handling.

It will also be very different from the Chiron as Bugatti uses its bodybuilding expertise to create a "distinctive new design that emphasizes driving dynamics."

Bugatti will unveil the Divo at The Quail - A Motorsports Gathering in California on August 24th. They'll only build 40 then, so if you've got the bulk of the $8 million burning a hole in your (presumably very deep) pockets, you'll need to act quickly.
