Did you know that feeling hungry is often the first sign that you need a drink? Because dehydration is confused with hunger. Or that if you have a headache, you should first slowly drink a glass of water, because in most cases a migraine is a sign that you are running out of fluid? Also, why not drink too much? For dehydration, it is enough not to drink for several hours. The more tender the body (children, the elderly), the higher the temperature and the more effort, the faster this process occurs. After a few hours without drinking, our student feels worse, his mood drops, various ailments appear (drowsiness, fatigue, irritation, pain), he cannot concentrate, sees worse, has difficulty with fine motor skills, etc. staying at school loses its meaning because he is not able to work hard - remember that studying is very tiring, especially if it lasts 6-7 hours. Therefore, it is worth making sure that the child always has a bottle of water, a favorite juice or other drink at hand. Your kids will be able to use it during lessons, PE or recess.

Before you buy a thermos or a school water bottle: find out how much your child should drink at school

The first thing we need to decide before choosing a school water bottle, thermos or thermo mug is its size. How much should a student in grades 1-3 who spends 4-5 hours at school drink? How many hours is an elderly person who is not at home 7 hours? On the one hand, it is difficult to estimate the amount of fluid a child needs during the day. Everyone has their own needs, depending on age, gender, height, weight and activity. But there are a few basic guidelines.

For a child of primary school age, about 50-60 ml of liquid should be given for each kilogram of body weight.

A teenager should drink about 40-50 ml of water for every kg of body weight. It can be assumed that about 1/3 of this need is consumed with food (fruits, yoghurts, soups). This means that for a young child, a thermo mug with a capacity of about 300 ml should have enough liquid for school.

For an older child, this will be 500 ml. But be careful, if your child has extra physical activities planned, such as workouts, it's worth packing a double drink for him.

For the autumn-winter period, it is worth buying a thermo mug for your child, into which you can pour warm tea, cocoa or another drink that will warm your child. In the warm season, it is worth providing the child with a bottle of water, into which you can pour both the child’s favorite drink and water with mint, lemon or ginger. Water enriched with citrus or mint aromas is not only healthy, but also much tastier for the child. It can also be lightly sweetened with honey or molasses. Plus, the beautiful reusable bottle encourages baby to drink liquid and is an eco-friendly alternative to plastic water bottles.

What to pour into a water bottle, mug or thermos for a child to school?

Don't know how to fill your child's school water bottle? Water is by far the best. But not every child likes to drink it. This is fine. If our student brings an undamaged bottle of this most healthy drink from school, we can give him light teas, and even herbal infusions such as lemon balm, chamomile and mint - sealed in a thermo mug or thermos, they will keep warm for a long time. You can also put the juice in a bottle, but remember that the child should drink about 1 glass of juice per day (i.e. 250 ml), so if you want more to drink, add some water.

Are you worried that your child does not want to drink water, but likes sweet tea or juices? I have actionable advice on how to change that. Don't take away his flavors overnight, just change them slowly and consistently. What does it mean? Dilute them with water. Sweeten the tea less and less and make it more delicate. Mix more and more juices with water and only then pour the drink into a school water bottle. You have to be patient because this is not a two week process, but a year or two. However, if you pass it, the child will like the water, because you will change his taste preferences. Yes, it works for adults too. Now let's check the most convenient way to drink at school.

The school water bottle is the perfect solution for the little ones too.

Do you remember the water bottles our parents gave us when we traveled decades ago? Today's are not like them at all. They have beautiful designs and great quality. Most often they come in a volume of 250-300 ml, differ in lid, drinking system (mouthpiece, straw) and price. We'll find designs that encourage toddlers, as well as younger and older teens, to drink. Be sure to choose how much water the child needs, as well as the size of the pocket in the backpack in which the student will carry the drink container.

  • Water bottles for children to school - for the little ones

For the little ones, a water bottle with an interesting pattern, for example, with cats, is ideal - its colorful and original look will encourage the baby to reach for a drink more often.

Another good idea would be a beautiful blue Kambukka school water bottle. The bottle is easy to use with one hand and has a convenient carrying handle.

  • School water bottles for teenagers

Which school water bottles are worth paying attention to in the case of teenagers? The best fit are those that are distinguished by their original design and high resistance to various types of mechanical damage, so that they will not be damaged in a backpack, during school trips or during physical education. Below are some suggestions:

  • Violet 700 ml bottle with Galaxy straw – made of special BPA-free material;
  • Nalgene's 700ml green OTF On The Fly bottle is ideal for school (with a practical loop that makes it easy to attach to a backpack), for long trips and for every day use. The wide infusion makes it easy to toss pieces of fruit or ice cubes into the drink;
  • The water bottle, decorated with cats from our own Crazy Cats collection, is lightweight with aluminum walls.

Bottle for school - a simple and convenient proposal just in time for the lessons

The simplest and easiest solution. It also has the largest volume range. For adults, we can even find liter bottles. We have several types to choose from. Ordinary bottles, most often with a wide mouthpiece that allows you to pour pieces of fruit, mint, ice cubes. There are also solutions with a filter, thanks to which the child can add water by pouring ordinary tap water. As well as thermal and steel bottles, working by analogy with thermoses. In summer the water is cool, in winter you can pour warm tea. In our house we use the latter type. The choice of bottles is so large that there is no chance not to find the perfect solution for yourself.

Thermos for a child to school - for all seasons

This is not the most practical solution, because the child has to remove the cup, pour a drink into it and then drink. So he needs a place to put a thermos and use it safely. In addition, the mug promotes spillage (unlike, for example, a school bottle with a straw). However, the thermos has one big advantage. He may encourage some children to drink. For example, my daughter wore a thermos for the first two years at school and drank everything I cooked for her. They just liked to cook dinner with friends - they arranged snacks and drinks. A thermos for a child is ideal.

Thermal mug for a child - which one will be better?

One of the most convenient containers for drinking. The thermo mug is comfortable to hold (just check if its diameter is suitable for a child's hand), you can carry cool drinks in it in summer and warm in winter, but most importantly, it does not require opening, unscrewing, etc. this is important, because the child can use it with one hand, even playing in the school corridor, and nothing will spill. Many baby insulated mugs leak (not meant to be carried in a purse or backpack) so be sure to check this out. For school, the child needs a fully sealed container for drinks.

Finally, three important remarks. If the school has a drinker, then the thermo mug, water bottle or water container can be smaller - 250 ml. After drinking a drink brought from home, the child will drink from the drinker, but also pour water into his bottle or mug. Second: always remember that when using thermal mugs, school water bottles, thermoses and thermal bottles, we pour drinks into them at such a temperature that they do not burn the child. And third and most important. Giving your child to drink from a disposable bottle every day is the worst possible solution. The people who do this are destroying the world and taking away the future of all children. Remember to use only reusable solutions.
