A heavily camouflaged Cadillac sedan has been spotted in suburban Victoria, rekindling the heat among local fans interested in the long-known Australian launch.

While it's impossible to confirm with the thick camouflage wrapping, our keen observer was sure it was a 2020 CT5 car (first seen in Australia) that was parked outside a Woolworths supermarket. in Vermont, Victoria.

The Cadillac sported Victorian license plates, with only the front grille, headlights, and DRLs sticking out from under the heavy camouflage. At the rear, only the taillights and four exhaust pipes are visible. The CT5 is a new BMW 5 Series-sized luxury sedan from the American brand that is expected to be powered by a 4.2-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine when it goes on sale in the States in 2019.

But local fans are asked to once again cool their aircraft. Holden says many of the Cadillacs spotted in and around Melbourne are actually here as part of GM's "global collaboration program" using Holden's newly upgraded emissions lab and powertrain design and testing facility.

"This is one of the many vehicles we are testing as part of a global GM collaboration," Holden spokesman Mark Flintoff said. “The test site recently invested about $20 million in its emissions lab and ring loop refurbishment, and the engineering and powertrain teams are putting that to good use.”

So the next car Holden launches in Australia will be a non-flashy Cadillac CTS-V?

“The next vehicle Holden will launch is the Acadia — a large seven-seater SUV — in the fourth quarter,” says Flintoff.
