CB radio, the way to traffic?

CB radio, the way to traffic? Since the Ministry of Infrastructure has allowed the possession of transmitting and receiving-transmitting radios without permission, the number of users of CB radios has been steadily increasing.

Since the Ministry of Infrastructure allowed the possession of transmitting and transceiver radios without special permission in 2005, the number of users of CB radios has been steadily increasing.

The reason is prosaic - a reasonable price (the cheapest model costs about 200 PLN), for which we get a device that allows us to communicate with other CB users traveling on the roads of the whole country. The knowledge of these drivers can be invaluable, especially when we are driving at "high" speeds, thereby exposing ourselves to offenses and, as a result, serious financial damage, including the loss of a driver's license.CB radio, the way to traffic?

Faster than traffic

The majority of Citizen Band users are drivers who follow the rules of the road. For them, the most important information is traffic information.

Others with a “heavier foot” – other than traffic information – use CB walkie-talkies as an excellent informant on the location of speed cameras, highway patrols with “dryers” and to track unidentified police cars, spreading fear among all highway pirates.

“However, the admiration should be moderate, because the driver's problem may turn out to be the veracity of this kind of news,” emphasizes Commissioner of the Main Police Headquarters Marcin Schindler. - Some police and traffic police vehicles are equipped with CB radios, thanks to which the officers serving them can quickly find out if their position has been “discovered” and move to another place, unpleasantly surprising the “speed record holders”.

Part of the imperfections associated with the “freshness” of bearings on police cars are realized by more experienced drivers who try not to exceed the permitted speeds at long distances than only the indicated CB radios.

“This is a big plus, because in this way we get the effect of increased attention from drivers and a more relaxed driving,” says Commissioner Schindler. This imperfection, quoted, is perhaps one of the greatest advantages of CB radio as an "anti-radar" tool, since it thus performs a preventive function, forcing drivers to be more careful while driving.

You can't move without trucks

Truck and delivery truck drivers are the best informed about what's happening on the road. Having driven many times the same routes, they know the topography of the roads and the best detours very well. They also know from experience where to meet the curb, so professional drivers are the most active group using CB receivers. Compared to them, the situation is worse for car drivers, who in many cases are only passive listeners.

“It's a pity, because our roads are dominated by cars, which can more effectively transmit “news” about the police,” says Michal Wlostowski, a professional driver, smiling.

Fuss in the air

The observed renaissance of the "Civil Band" can be seen not only in CB stores, but also heard mainly on the general channel 19 (one of 40 other channels available in the frequency range from 26,960 to 27,400 MHz). In addition to radar warnings and information about road capacity, there are more and more unexpected reports.

Roadside fast food bars invite you to taste the delicious pea soup or grill, and the whole range of skills and charms are presented, sometimes expressively, by the ladies working on the sides of transit roads.

Semi-seriously, this is extreme proof of the popularity of CB, a radio that is becoming more and more popular among drivers, bringing together foreign industries.

KGP Commissioner Marcin Schindler CB radio, the way to traffic?

Having a CB radio has many advantages, but its value as a strict anti-radar tool cannot be overestimated, because Polish roads are also patrolled by unmarked police cars operating in sections several tens of kilometers long, making them difficult to detect. Personally, I think it's a very good communication tool - since I'm the owner of such a kit - provided it's used legally.

It is true that "circulating in the air" information about the location of police cars on the roads in many cases reveals the position of the road, but at the same time plays a kind of preventive role, especially in the case of drivers. with a high temperament behind the wheel. It should also be remembered that access to this information is free and uncontrolled, so we can unknowingly help the criminal avoid police patrols.

Michal Wlostowski, professional driver

Even though I have been a professional driver for XNUMX years now, I am only using the CB kit for the second year. I value it primarily as a cheap alternative to satellite navigation and, of course, as a source of all kinds of information related to traffic on Polish roads, including news about police patrols. CB-radio is also a means of so-called regular chats, which is indispensable on long-distance routes, because we mostly travel alone.

Let's not forget that our walkie-talkies can additionally serve us in emergency situations, such as calling for help in case of an accident, as well as in more mundane ones, such as finding a good bar by the road.
