2022 Genesis GV price and specs: BMW X80 and Audi Q5 rival gets six-seat variant, new features and price hike
The refreshed 2022 Genesis GV80 carries a higher price tag but gets some new features.
Luxury brand Genesis has added a plush six-seat option to its flagship GV80 SUV as part of the 2022 model year update.
The update brings with it a price increase for the entire range, as well as an increase in the standard specification and a new color option.
A six-seat captain's chair is available on all GV80 all-wheel drive variants as part of a 6-seat luxury package and adds $13,500 to the price.
It is the first large premium SUV available in Australia with a six-seat option, although Mazda sells a similarly sized six-seat version of its CX-9.
The package includes two individual second-row seats with power and one-touch rest mode, a second-row armrest with a wireless smartphone charger, two cup holders, storage space and an integrated Genesis controller to control screens.
A pair of 9.2-inch high-definition touchscreens with dual headphone jacks and USB ports are mounted on the back of the front seatbacks, and the package also includes additional interior lighting.
Genesis is offering another luxury package for all variants for $10,500 and for the 2022 model year, which gets a 18-way power adjustable passenger seat with "Ergo-motion" to match the driver's seat.
The luxury package already includes a long list of extras such as heated and ventilated second row seats, heated steering wheel, three-zone climate control, Nappa quilted leather interior, power second and third row seats, door closers and more.
New standard features across the entire 2022 lineup include an upgraded front brake package with 380mm discs and four-piston calipers previously reserved for the top 3.5T model.
It now features new Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Recirculation Model Plus features, as well as graphical updates to the navigation map and other safety icons.
The rear of the GV80 now features unlock and lock rear doors, as well as a more functional cup holder design.
A new glossy Barossa Burgundy color has been added to the palette, including seven glossy and three matte color options.
The GV80 range continues to be offered with three engine options, starting with a 224kW/422Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine in rear (rear-wheel drive) and all-wheel drive (AWD) and a 3.0-litre AWD turbodiesel engine. 204 kW. / 588 Nm and the flagship all-wheel drive 279 kW / 530 Nm 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 petrol.
