The refreshed 2022 Genesis GV80 carries a higher price tag but gets some new features.

Luxury brand Genesis has added a plush six-seat option to its flagship GV80 SUV as part of the 2022 model year update.

The update brings with it a price increase for the entire range, as well as an increase in the standard specification and a new color option.

A six-seat captain's chair is available on all GV80 all-wheel drive variants as part of a 6-seat luxury package and adds $13,500 to the price.

It is the first large premium SUV available in Australia with a six-seat option, although Mazda sells a similarly sized six-seat version of its CX-9.

The package includes two individual second-row seats with power and one-touch rest mode, a second-row armrest with a wireless smartphone charger, two cup holders, storage space and an integrated Genesis controller to control screens.

A pair of 9.2-inch high-definition touchscreens with dual headphone jacks and USB ports are mounted on the back of the front seatbacks, and the package also includes additional interior lighting.

Genesis is offering another luxury package for all variants for $10,500 and for the 2022 model year, which gets a 18-way power adjustable passenger seat with "Ergo-motion" to match the driver's seat.

The rear of the GV80 now features unlock and lock rear doors, as well as a more functional cup holder design.
