The cost of MG3 has increased.

MG Australia has locked in higher prices for the MG3 light hatchback, which should take effect when new MY22 stocks arrive in April.

As reported, on February 1, MG Australia released the remaining entry-level MY21 Core, mid-range Core with Nav, and flagship Excite variants with a $500 price increase.

Two months later, the same versions will go up $500 again, meaning Core, Core with Nav, and Excite will jump to $18,990, $19,490, and $20,490, respectively.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for MG Australia said the price adjustment came "in the face of unprecedented increases in the cost of raw materials and transport logistics in 2021."

Therefore, no changes were made to the standard equipment of the most popular competitor Kia Rio, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris, Mazda2 and Suzuki Swift.

For reference, the MG3 is powered by a 82kW/150Nm 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
