2022 Ram 2500 Price and Features: Are Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger Too Small? The newest full-size American truck will cost more than both of them combined!

The Ram 2500 is powered by a 276-litre turbodiesel engine producing 1152 kW/6.7 Nm.

Ram Australia's new full-size 2500 pickup has hit local showrooms at a hefty price tag to match its mammoth size.

Measuring over six meters long and 2.6 meters wide, the 2022 Ram 2500 is available in two variants: Laramie Crew Cab and Laramie Crew Cab RamBox.

This positions the 2500 well above the 1500 (from $79,950) and the new 1500 DT series (from $114,950) in price and growth, and well above the popular Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton and Isuzu D. - Maximum.

The 3.6-ton truck is powered by a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six engine with 276 kW at 2800 rpm and 1152 Nm at 1700 rpm.

Connected to the engine is a six-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter capable of transmitting torque to all four directions.

It should be noted that fuel economy and carbon emissions have not yet been disclosed.

BorgWarner's electronic transfer case, providing the usual 2WD, 2WD High and 4WD Low modes, is also offered for those who like to go off the beaten track.

Towing capacity with brakes is rated up to 8.0 tonnes, according to Ram Australia, when fitted with an auxiliary gooseneck city hitch and air brakes, and "depending on what you're towing and how you're towing."

Otherwise, the Ram 2500 can tow 3.5 tons (50mm ball) or 4.5 tons (70mm ball).

Load capacity is 835kg or 754kg with RamBox installed.

The 2500 also comes with unique shock absorbers with what's called frequency response damping, "which allows the 2500 to have a sports car-like suspension for handling and supple suspension in rough terrain."

Standard equipment includes LED headlights, 18" polished aluminum wheels, six seats, part-leather interior, power front seats, heated and cooled front seats (except middle), customizable 7.0" driver display, digital rearview mirror, interior with active noise cancellation, keyless entry, push-button start and dual-zone climate control.

Multimedia functions are handled by a 12.0-inch Uconnect touchscreen that can separate two apps on the screen, including satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, and a 10-speaker sound system.

Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and a surround view monitor.

As the name suggests, the Laramie Crew Cab RamBox package adds a proprietary storage solution in the cargo area with a weatherproof, lockable, drainable and illuminated storage area.

The Ram 2500 comes with a three-year, 100,000 km warranty and, like the 1500 km model, is imported and converted from left-hand drive to right-hand drive in Melbourne.
