But the biggest news is an updated top-of-the-range plug-in hybrid version of the XC60, previously called the T8 Polestar Engineered.

Now that the Polestar car brand is on the market in its own right, that part of the name and much of the influence of the sportier Polestar has been wiped out.

In its place is the XC60 Recharge Plug-in Hybrid, which is priced at $97,990 (MSRP), a $2970 drop from the last model.

Volvo Australia says the new top-of-the-line PHEV model now boasts an electric range of 90km on a full charge, while its all-wheel drive transmission is capable of delivering 233kW and 400Nm of power from a 2.0-litre supercharged, turbocharged petrol engine, while the rear - the installed electric motor adds 107 kW and 309 Nm. As a result, the acceleration time to 0 km / h is 100 seconds, and the declared fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 4.8 l / 1.6 km.
