A brief history of the Centra brand

The beginning of the company's activities dates back to 1910, when it was Pole by birth, Berlin-based industrialist Andrzej Kaczmarek spearheaded the opening of a small battery factory in Berlin. As soon as Poland gained independence, Kaczmarek moved his business to Poznan (1919), where until 1925 he operated under the name “First Poznan Cell and Battery Plant”. In 1925 it was put up for sale. the first products under the Centra trademark arrived.. Years later, there was a breakthrough. In the summer of 1993, the Joint Electrochemical Centers were transformed into the only joint stock company of the State Treasury - CENTRA SA in Poznań. And in 1994, in September, the company's management sold a 75% stake in Western European Battery Producers Group (CEAC). The 90s were a time of great change for the brand, because in 1995 CEAC was bought by the American concern EXIDE Corporation. Next years change of company name in 2008 to Exide Technologies SA. and the success of the company in 2012 when it was a company ranked 272nd among the 500 largest Polish companies Tygodnik Polityka.
