You can reserve the new Mini Countryman Boardwalk Edition online.

Mini Australia has confirmed the first special offer for an updated version of the second-generation Countryman small SUV, with the Boardwalk Edition due out next month.

The Boardwalk Edition stands out from the Countryman crowd with its Deep Laguna metallic paint, Piano Black exterior trim, black 18-inch Pin alloy wheels and a fold-out picnic bench.

And if you still can't tell the difference, the Boardwalk Edition goes even further with distinctive 'side window' embellishments and treadplates, as well as branding between the C- and D-pillars.

Inside, the Boardwalk Edition is once again branded, this time on the passenger side on a Piano Black dashboard insert, as well as a panoramic sunroof, a 410W 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and heated front sports seats.

There are two Boardwalk Edition options available: the Cooper starts at $52,000 plus travel expenses and is limited to 29 units, while the Cooper S starts at $58,500 and is limited to 30 units.

For a $7500 surcharge over the regular Cooper Boardwalk Edition also includes LED lighting, keyless entry and start, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay support, 5.5-inch digital instrument cluster, Carbon Black leatherette upholstery Mini Yours, anthracite ceiling and reversing camera.

The Cooper Boardwalk Edition is powered by a 100kW/220Nm 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

A $5600 premium over the regular Cooper S. The Boardwalk Edition has a black honeycomb grille, sports steering wheel, memory-adjustable front seats, Carbon Black Cross Punch leather upholstery, and adaptive cruise control.

The Cooper S Boardwalk Edition is powered by a 141kW/280Nm 2.0L turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

For reference, both new variants of the Audi Q3, Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLA and rival BMW X1 are front-wheel drive.
