Charles Morgan is the grandson of the founder of HFS Morgan, who started his velomobile business in 1910 and remained managing director until 1959. HFS Morgan was replaced by Peter Morgan (Charles' father), who led the company until 2003. .

Charles entered the family business late, spending his early career as a television cameraman and later working in a publishing house. He joined Morgan Motor Company as a staff member in 1985 and was promoted to Managing Director in 2006.

It was rumored that Morgan's board of directors were not satisfied with Charles's performance in the role, but a company spokesman stated that the move was made on good terms for all involved. Morgan will be replaced by Steve Morris, the automaker's former COO.
