What to do if the car overheats?

There are various reasons that can cause a car to overheat, and all of them should be addressed as soon as possible.

It is common to see a car waiting on the side of the road because the car is overheating. However, not all of us know how to react, and it's best to know what to do if something like this happens to you in the middle of the road.

If the car overheats and we do not act properly, we can cause serious damage to your engine, which will certainly come at a high cost.

- stop and turn off the car. If your car overheats, you should find a safe place to park and turn off your car.

- Wait to open the chest. When the car is hot, you should wait until the steam stops coming out from under the hood so as not to burn your hands. It is important to open the hood so that more steam comes out and the car cools down faster.

- Upper radiator hose. If the upper radiator hose is swollen and hot, the engine is still hot and you will have to wait longer to open the radiator cap. If you remove the radiator cap on a hot car pressure and steam can shoot coolant at you causing  the skin is on fire.

– Look for leaks. The hoses could burst due to overheating. Before filling the radiator, check for coolant leaks.

– Top up coolant. Once the vehicle has cooled down, fill the radiator and reservoir with the correct coolant for your vehicle.
