Features of coatings "Titan" and "Raptor"
Polymer-based paints are of interest to drivers who operate their vehicles in off-road conditions or who simply want to give their vehicle an unusual look. The main features of Titan and Raptor paints include:
- unprecedented surface hardness of a fully cured coating, which is higher than all acrylic, oil and other paints known today;
- relief surface after drying, the so-called shagreen;
- high dielectric properties;
- complete protection of the metal from the effects of destructive external factors (moisture, UV rays, abrasives);
- poor adhesion with any surfaces, which entails a special technology for preparing the surface to be painted;
- the complexity of local repair due to the dependence of the shagreen texture on a large number of factors.
The composition of all polymer paints, not only "Titan" and "Raptor", is kept by manufacturing companies in the strictest confidence. It is only known that these coatings are made on the basis of polyurethane and polyurea. The exact proportions and composition of the paints were not disclosed.
What is the difference between "Titan" and "Raptor"?
Raptor paint from U-Pol was the first to appear on the Russian market. For more than 10 years, the company has been successfully promoting its products in the Russian Federation. Titan paint from the Rubber Paint company massively went on sale about 5 years after the Raptor appeared on the shelves. Therefore, the first and, perhaps, the most significant difference appears here, at least for service station masters and ordinary people who are going to repaint the car in polymer paint: there is more confidence in the Raptor.
Masters who have been working in paint shops with Raptor for several years note that this polymer coating has constantly changed and improved. The first versions of the paint were rather fragile after drying, they collapsed during deformation, and had poor adhesion even with a prepared surface. Today, the quality and properties of the Raptor have grown markedly.
Paints "Titan", also on the assurances of car painters and motorists, have increased resistance to scratching and abrasive effects. In addition, to wipe, even without local heating with a building dryer, deeper scratches can be made on Titan paints. However, this opinion is subjective.
There is a third opinion: if you take the Raptor paint of the latest version and compare it with Titan, then at least it will not be inferior in terms of performance. At the same time, its cost in the market is on average 15-20% lower than that of Titan.
As a result, almost all motorists and paint shop masters agree on one thing: the difference between the Titan and the Raptor is not so critical that any one option outweighs it by a wide margin. Here, the main recommendation of professionals is to find a good workshop that can apply high-quality polymer paintwork. With the right approach to preparing, applying and curing layers, both Titan and Raptor will reliably protect the car body and last a long time.
