What can younger students build

On April 8, the competition for an invention began, i.e. the second stage of the 5th edition of the educational program for students of lower secondary school - Akademia Wynalazców im. Robert Bosch. The contestants are tasked with developing a device for everyday use. Applications are accepted until May 11 this year, and the winners of the competition will be announced in June during the solemn final gala concerts.

The invention competition is divided into two stages. The first one runs from April 8 to May 11. During this time, younger students from the schools participating in the program, in groups of up to 5 people, prepare a draft of the invention, and then the teacher, the curator of the group, registers the described idea on the site. The invention must meet the following criteria: low cost of implementation, versatility, environmental friendliness and must be in one of three areas - automotive, household appliances or garden equipment. Of the submitted proposals, 10 of the most interesting projects in Warsaw and 10 in Wroclaw will advance to the second and final stage. The authors of these projects will be tasked with building prototypes of the devices they have invented with the financial support of Bosch. The competition will be decided during the solemn final gala concerts, which will be held June 16 in Wroclaw and June 18 in Warsaw. Participants of the winning teams will receive attractive prizes of PLN 1000 each (for first place), PLN 300 (for second place) and PLN 150 (for third place). The mentors of the winning teams and their schools will receive Bosch power tools.

Throughout the history of the program, high school students have submitted almost 200 invention projects, incl. modern women's shoes with a heel stowed in the sole, a cordless knife, frostbite-preventing shoes equipped with a dynamo-powered lamp, a practical drawer that slides vertically upwards, a cooling bottle that, thanks to the materials used, not only reduces the temperature of the drink when cycling, and also prevents the growth of microorganisms.

Last year in Warsaw, the Little Amazon project, a convenient and comprehensive plant bed, won first place, and in Wroclaw, a project for a home power plant using renewable energy sources.
