What does the Attention Assist warning light mean?

The Attention Assist warning light comes on when Attention Assist suspects that you may need a break from driving.

Drivers and passengers love to be safe. That's why the automotive industry is constantly evolving, coming up with new ways to keep the driver and passengers of the car safe from danger. One of the latest developments in driver safety is called Attention Assist.

Created by Mercedes-Benz, Attention Assist monitors the actions of the driver, identifying signs of fatigue. Whenever the engine is started, the computer analyzes dozens of parameters to determine how the driver is handling the car. After a few minutes, the computer creates a profile for the driver while it is in the "alert" state. As you continue driving, the computer looks for obvious signs of fatigue, such as constant small adjustments to the steering wheel.

What does the Attention Assist indicator mean?

The Attention Assist indicator is used to advise the driver to take a break from driving. It should turn on before the driver gets too tired so that he or she can safely find a safe place to stop and rest. The system will compare the driver's actions with road conditions and take into account road roughness and crosswinds. If the computer decides that the driver is causing the abnormal driving, it will turn on the Attention Assist indicator on the dashboard.

Is it safe to drive with the Attention Assist light on?

I hope you never have to see this message while driving. Knowing your limits is very important when driving long distances. Driving too long can put you in a state where you can't react quickly enough to keep yourself safe and focused on the road. The Attention Assist system has been extensively tested by Mercedes-Benz and does not work unnecessarily. Pay attention to the warning signal and stay alert and safe. If you experience any issues with your Attention Assist system, our certified technicians will help you identify any issues.
