What is tire sealant and when should it be used?

Tire sealant helps us plug holes found in the tire tread, it can inflate the tire and hold air until it is repaired. These sealants should not be used to repair leaks located in the sidewalls of tires.

Vehicle tires are inflated with air or nitrogen and should always have the recommended air pressure. It is very important that the tires do not have air leaks so that they can move properly and have a good steering wheel.

A tire leak can be caused by a number of reasons, such as:

- Stab with sharp objects.

– Damaged valve.

- Broken tire.

- Tire problems.

- Inflated tyres.

Usually, when we have a flat tire, we use a spare tire, but you can also use tire sealant to repair the damage.

What is tire sealant?

Tire sealant is a simple and inexpensive solution to a flat tire problem. 

This is the gooey liquid that coats the inside of your tire. When a tire is punctured, air escapes and this is responsible for getting the sealant into the leak. The liquid part of the sealant flows out, the fibers grow and intertwine, forming a flexible plug. 

When should we use tire sealant?

This product can be used if your car's tires are losing air and you need to take them in for repair. Can be used in:

– When your tire is punctured or flat in the middle of the road

– Can repair off-road tubeless tires

– You can repair tires with tubes

Unfortunately, there are cases when sealant cannot be used:

Inflatable Products: Tire sealant should not be used on air mattresses, river inflatables, pool chambers, balls, etc. The sealant will collect at the bottom of the float and will not seal. 

Side Cuts: The sealant is designed to repair punctures in the tread area of ​​the tire only. Unfortunately, tire sealants won't patch cuts in the sidewall.
