Why is the compass saw called?
	In addition to a north-pointing device, the word "compass" also refers to a tool used to mark out a circle or curve, for which a compass saw is specifically designed.

	A circular saw is designed for cutting curves or working in awkward and tight spaces where a large saw cannot fit. This is similar to an angle grinder, but provides much more precision and a better finish. As a rule, for home improvement, you can use a compass saw. Every home should have one. 	Isn't that what coping or a jigsaw does? Yes, however a circular saw can cut through thicker materials faster and does not create such a neat finish. The thin tip of the blade allows you to cut very sharp curves, such as a keyhole (which is why it is often called a keyhole).

	Processing The compass saw has a so-called open pistol grip. This type of handle is often found on saws designed to work in awkward or tight spaces. The curved handle facilitates overhead cutting, and because the handle is lighter, the result is less strain on the user's hand and wrist.
What is a jigsaw?
	A circular saw with a very thin blade and a straight handle is called a paddle saw. It is used in exactly the same way as a circular saw, except that it can create even tighter curves and complex shapes.
