What is a square file?

	Square files are bench files that can be used in grooves and key grooves.

What are the characteristics of a square file?
	transverse section As the name suggests, square files have a square cross section.
	This means that they can be used for sawing square or rectangular grooves in the workpiece.
	They can also be used to create rectangular cuts by turning the file to cut off a corner (edge).
	Profile They taper both in width and thickness.
	This allows them to be used to widen square holes.
	Tax They are double serrated on all four sides, allowing material to be removed from multiple sides at the same speed.
	Size Square files are usually available in lengths from 100mm (4") to 350mm (14").
	Swiss or American? Square files can be either Swiss or American.
