Thus, each vehicle is checked before it goes on the road. The moose test is practiced by car manufacturers and primarily simulates a sudden lane change.

Where did the name "moose test" come from?

Why is the moose test called when there is no animal in it? This term comes from Sweden. It is on these roads that drivers can often encounter moose. These beautiful and large animals take to the roads, just like roe deer or red deer in our country. Unfortunately, since they are much larger and heavier than themselves, a collision with them usually ends not only in harming the animal, but also in a very serious accident, often fatal. 

Therefore, drivers in this area must be very careful and must be able to quickly and easily avoid the sudden appearance of creatures on the roads. This is exactly what the moose test mimics. So its name is not completely meaningless!

Moose test - what episode does it cover?

Typically, the moose test covers a distance of about 50 meters. It is important that the vehicles are loaded to the maximum permitted vehicle weight during testing. Thanks to this, you can check whether the car can handle potentially the most difficult conditions. 

It is also important that during the movement of the car they usually have the ESP system turned on, and the pressure in their tires is at the value recommended by the manufacturer. For this reason, as a car user, you must take care of it. Only in this case you will be sure of the safety of the car. In other conditions, the machine may not behave as you expect!

The speed of the moose test is not very high, but it exceeds the speed limit in settlements. The car must move at a speed of 70 or 77 km/h. If you are driving on a section where there may be an obstacle or you have limited visibility of the road, it is better not to exceed the speed of about 80 km/h. This will enable you to respond quickly.
