What is Torque Strut Mount?

The Torque Strut Mount is designed to mount the engine to the chassis and dampen vibration from the engine and transmission under load and during hard stops, making for a smoother ride for driver and passengers.

Keep in mind:

The torque arm mount naturally breaks and weakens. A worn torque mount needs to be replaced immediately as it can cause further damage to many components attached to the engine and transmission including sensors, wiring connectors, gaskets, hoses. Excessive movement in the engine will cause premature failure of these components.

How it is done:

The torque arm mounts can be replaced by a professional mechanic or trained enthusiast. First open the hood and use the jack to support the engine. Remove the fasteners attached to the damaged torque arm mount. Install a new torque arm. Using a torque wrench, tighten fasteners to manufacturer's specifications. Confirm the repair by performing a test drive.

Our recommendations:

If you feel a thud or vibration when accelerating or stopping, this could be due to a damaged torque arm mount. Timely repairs will prevent excessive engine vibration and movement, which will prevent costly repairs to fragile engine components and wiring harnesses.

What are the common symptoms that indicate you may need to replace your torsion bar support?

8 Vibration or clanging noise when accelerating * Vibration felt by passengers or driver while holding the steering wheel at idle * Peculiar movement of the engine in the compartment. * Abnormal engine noises, humming, humming when accelerating or decelerating.

How important is this service?

While your car won't explode or fall apart, delaying this service will make driving an unpleasant experience and shouldn't be put off for too long. If your torque mount fails, the other motor mounts supporting the motor will have to work even harder, resulting in breakage and additional costly repairs. You probably won't have to tow the car to a workshop, but you should get it fixed as soon as possible.
