What is a ratchet pipe cutter?
A ratchet pipe cutter is essentially a one-handed pipe cutter with a permanently attached ratchet handle. However, it is semi-automatic, which means that it is not designed for one specific size and must be adjusted before use.
Using a ratchet pipe cutter can be useful in hard to reach places. It is more reliable than a one-handed pipe cutter with an attached ratchet handle because the cutting head is encased on both sides. This means that it cannot move inside the handle and has no risk of falling out.
dimensions | |
The ratchet pipe cutter comes in three sizes that fit three ranges of pipe sizes. It is available in: 3 mm (0.1 inch) - 13 mm (0.5 inch) 6 mm (0.2 inch) - 23 mm (0.9 inch) 8 mm (0.3 inch) - 29 mm (1.14 inch)
What materials will it cut?
The ratchet pipe cutter is designed for cutting soft materials such as copper, brass, aluminum and PVC. It should not be used on steel as it is not strong enough and using on steel will dull the blade making it less effective on other materials. |
