Citroen Berlingo 2.0 HDI SX

The "chip" in the head needs to be replaced, said Citroën and Berlingo did it. The spirit that had been whirling in vain in their design bureaus for the past few years has finally found its place again. There used to be Citroën cars with soul, driven by a sleeper and a frog.

Then there came a time when these features were intimidated by something, and they tried to adapt the shape of cars to some general trend in the automotive industry. Of course it didn't end well. Well, thank God they came to their senses again and Berlingo was born.

It is a successful mixture of a van and a car. Of course, talking about the beauty or grace of its forms is meaningless. That's just the way it is, which is pretty cute. Therefore, it hides a lot of space. The high ceiling creates a spacious feel.

It sits very upright in the driver's seat, and thanks to the slightly softer steering wheel, the feel really feels like a truck. So that's the trunk. This includes, for example, a compound stroller. No stacks and no thoughts about where to put this part and where they are.

You just take it and move it into the trunk. What to do if the rear row of seats is folded! Then the volume of luxury rises to 2800 liters. Nevertheless, the car is short enough to maneuver for an hour in a city crowd. The location on the road is better than one would expect from such a tall vehicle.

Performance is impressive for a diesel engine that was once used almost exclusively for trucks. This is now the well-known turbodiesel from the PSA concern, which sounds like Hdi. This is a great product, perfect for Berlingo. It accelerates well from 1500 rpm, and above 4500 rpm you should not bother, but rather switch. On diesels, a lot of work is required with the gear lever due to the small usable rev range.

However, if you are not impatient or sporty, they allow you to get lazy in higher gears due to the exceptional torque at low revs. The fuel consumption in the test, despite the acceleration and the large front surface of the car, did not exceed eight liters per hundred kilometers. Has a beneficial effect on the thinning of the wallet!

Well, I would just like that, I would be joking. He offers a lot and spends little. It's as comfortable as any ordinary car, but with a good-natured exterior, it's something special - it exudes the spirit of a Citroën that already looked like it was about to get lost.

evaluation

  • Berlingo is a car that with its image calms both those who look at it and those who drive it. After a long time, this is a real Citroën again, and the turbodiesel engine goes well with this character. This is the perfect family car for both long trips and city trips.
