Citroën C5 2.2 HDi break

But we think so today. Three years ago, when Citroën's flagship first hit the road, they clearly didn’t pay much attention to it. The sixth gear in the transmission was intended primarily for vehicles with a more sporty character, which somehow could not be expected from the Citroën C5.

The "Frenchman" already by his form says that he is not on good terms with hunters for speed records, but also not with those who like to squeak when cornering. That is why he loves calm drivers who value comfort and value leisure.

Are you in doubt? Okay, in order. The hydropneumatic suspension (Hydractive 3), undoubtedly a recognizable feature of this car, is especially impressive for its incredibly comfortable cross-country ability. Although it is true that among the switches for adjusting the height from the ground, located on the middle ridge, we also find one with the word "Sport". But believe me, even with the pressure, the sportiness in this car is still conditional.

The seats are designed solely for comfort, as evidenced by the wide seating surfaces and armrests on the inner sides of the two front seats.

The steering wheel, as befits such a sedan, is four-spoke, much of the comfort we want to convince you also contributes to the Exclusive equipment package, which includes two-way air conditioning - although this does not always work the way you wanted - a rain sensor that controls the wipers, power windows in the doors and exterior mirrors, an audio system with CD changer and steering wheel, cruise control, xenon headlights, a tire pressure monitor, and even power front seats.

However, we have not even touched on the safety chapter, in which we find ABS, ESP and six airbags. So one thing is for sure: the comfort in this car will not disappoint you. Whether you like it or not. However, some other things may bother you.

For example, decorative accessories that want to resemble wood are unfortunately too plastic. Or electronics that control the work of electricity consumers: the reaction of headlights, wipers or sound signals to the driver's command is too late not to notice it.

But if you're not too shallow and know how to find good on top of bad in every car, then you will surely notice the many storage spaces that the C5 has to offer. And not only this; Almost all drawers for small items, including those in the door, are upholstered in plush, which is a rarity even in cars of the highest price class.

The Citroën C5 has another little curiosity, namely that we don't have the most powerful 2-liter six-cylinder petrol engine in the Break version. So you can choose between a 9-liter petrol and two turbo diesel engines (2 HDi and 0 HDi), and needless to say, the more powerful diesel is the most useful. While it basically offers two less horsepower than the gasoline engine, it delivers 2.0 Nm of torque at 2.2 rpm, which should be enough for a 314 kg vehicle.

And we have to agree with this, but only if we take into account the conclusions written at the beginning. Despite the six-speed manual transmission now available in conjunction with a 2-liter turbo diesel engine, the C2 Break does not change its core character.

So don't think about the possible glimpses that it is now a family sports van. Acceleration is still calm, and at higher speeds it is almost random, which clearly proves that the "Frenchman" does not intend to fight with speed records. Therefore, regardless of the driving speed, the noise inside never exceeds the norm, which is not least related to fuel consumption.
