Citroen Evasion 2.0 HDi SX

It is more equipped with machinery and a new diesel engine. A XNUMX-litre common-rail direct-injection turbodiesel with an Evasion turbocharger and aftercooler that is otherwise upgraded in its mature years (male colleagues would call it "in its prime years").

The same engine was used for a while in the PSA group, from Peugeot to Citroën, from 306 to Xantia. A maximum power of 90 hp was allowed. in smaller models and 110 hp. in big ones. Also in Evasion. The modern diesel engine gave the Evasion a new dimension "at its best". A relatively small engine works well in a fairly large car. It's not overly loud, it's not overly greedy (previously frugal) and another good thing is that the car isn't lacking in power.

It doesn't really hit speed records, but it works great on both short trips and long journeys. On long journeys, consumption can drop to seven liters, which is a very good average given the size of the car. This is not as good as some of the competitors, which have excellent pulling already almost at idle speed.

The Evasion engine needs a few more revolutions to then accelerate sovereignly. Favorable torque is available in a fairly wide range, up to 4600 rpm, to which it still makes sense to drive it, but nothing more.

The test Evasion had seven seats - already a real small bus. Two in the front with an intermediate passage, three in the middle and two more in the back. Everything can be removed separately and gradually put together. Efficient automatic air conditioning has also found its place, but the switches are so awkwardly placed that the view of them is obscured by the gear lever.

Interior lighting is rich, electrically folding exterior mirrors are very handy in narrow aisles, and sliding doors on both sides are very useful in narrow parking lots. There is no shortage of comfort.

Even if Evasion is "at its best," the "one room" philosophy is still in vogue. There are more and more smaller options that consume the market for the larger ones, but even the larger ones don't make it to the last hour. Especially with fuel efficient engines like the Evasion.

evaluation

  • Despite its mature years, this minivan still holds up well. An economical and sufficiently powerful diesel engine is a great advantage, and a sufficiently rich equipment can satisfy many people. On long trips, we lack cruise control.

We praise and reproach
