Citroën Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDi Exclusive

Maybe his appearance is really out of fashion, but he is still friendly. The interior can be loved even more: it has interesting, colorful shapes, and most importantly (especially, as in the Picasso test) it is warm - colorful and imaginative.

Anyone who falls into a seat that is noticeably raised for a passenger car will surely be satisfied. The driver space is so large that it is easy to sit down and even in this position it is pleasant to drive the car, including the position of the gear lever and steering wheel.

It is necessary to use sensors located in the middle of the dashboard, which does not require special training, but in this case it is less difficult to look at them than in the “classic” position in front of the steering wheel. Their graphics are clean and easy to read, but there is no rev counter.

Perhaps the most practical motorization is a two-liter turbodiesel with common rail technology and direct injection. The engine is very good: it has a fuzzy, almost imperceptible turbo port, so it pulls evenly from low to medium revs regardless of the gear engaged.

The torque is also sufficient, but considering the total weight of the car and its aerodynamic properties, it runs out of power. In practice, this means that you cannot go crazy with it; the motorway restriction, together with the added upward clearance (other than long climbs), is easy to maintain, and if there is no heavy traffic, it also works great on roads outside of settlements, even if they climb towards the alpine passes.

With good performance it can also be economical as we were unable to measure more than 8 liters of diesel over 2 kilometers and with (our) “soft” foot it landed with a good six liters.

The gearbox impressed him a little less; Otherwise, life is pretty easy with it, as long as you don't ask too much of it - the lever movements are quite long, not entirely precise and without good feedback, and the speed is also not its feature. This is one of the reasons why such a Pica does not have serious sports ambitions.

After all, it has a rather high center of gravity (and everything that follows from this), the chassis is completely tuned more for comfort, and the steering wheel is also far from sporty. It is clear that Piki is not without its shortcomings, but it is still very friendly to the driver and passengers, so it's worth considering. Especially with such an engine.
