Cupra Ateca is undoubtedly an innovation, but something is missing in it for me.

Until recently, the word "Cupra" was associated with only two thoroughbred varieties of models in the Seat stable - Ibiza and Leon. Today this word is much more important than before. Many people know very well that now it is a new brand, which means new ideas, new solutions and new interesting projects. The first is a model that, although at first glance it may seem like a heated cutlet, there is nothing superfluous in it. The Cupra Ateca, because that's what we're talking about, is not only a great car, but also a pioneer in the compact sport utility vehicle class.

Ateca finally has character

Model designers Kupra Ateka From the very beginning, they had a slightly easier task, given the really interesting design of the base Seat Atec. It was enough to lower the front bumper with an additional inscription KUPRA, add subtle fender flares, side skirts, a spoiler lip on the tailgate and a diffuser on the rear bumper, and four distinctly visible tailpipes. And please! From a good car, we got a very beautiful and original car. I must admit that at last Cupra it looks like what I personally expected - in the sense of "racial". Seat Leon Cupra, although I always liked it as a car, unfortunately - my task - it lacks character. It looks a little bland considering its capabilities and what it offers the driver while driving. Kupra Ateka it's a completely different story. At first glance, we know what we are dealing with, and in fact, deciding on such a car, we want exactly this. Is not?

interior Buy Ateca compared to the Seat Ateca differs slightly. Of course, at the very beginning, we will pay attention to the new logo located in the center of the steering wheel and sports seats trimmed in Alcantara with more contoured side panels. The rest we already know, so there is not much to write about.

And what's under the hood of the Cupry Ateca? Too perfect?

It's time to focus on what really sets this car apart from other cars in this segment. 300 horsepower is forged from a two-litre petrol engine. Of course, this is not a new unit, but well known from many other models of the Volkswagen concern - 2.0 TSI.

This does not change the fact that thanks to this engine Cupra Atka breaks up to a hundred in just 4,8 seconds, and this is really an excellent result. In addition, a gearbox that matches the gear ratios perfectly. When we want to press harder on the gas pedal, it will be tight and ready for quick action, and when a melancholy mood accompanies us, we feel calm. The steering also does not stick out and, thanks to its precision, makes it Kupra Ateka swallows curves like a thoroughbred hot hatch. Compared to the Seat model, it is lower by 10 mm thanks to the use of a sports suspension, and also has excellent optional Brembo brakes and 4Drive all-wheel drive. All of this together makes for a superb driving experience, and even less experienced drivers have nothing to fear when they sit at the helm of this compact SUV.

Exactly! The only question is whether it should be. Personally, I feel a little dissatisfied, because when we get into such a car, we have to "stuff our pants" for fear that he will not want to kill us at the first opportunity. Here, unfortunately, an army of systems plus four-wheel drive is kept Cupra on a fairly short leash and there can be no question of any, even a momentary distraction. The sound isn't impressive either. When I first looked at this machine, I thought that after launching it, I would have to make an appointment with an ENT doctor. Unfortunately, it turned out that although Kupra Ateka likes to shoot exhausts, one must understand that this is more of a cough than a bomber raid. It's a pity, because the potential is there.

How much is Cupra Ateca worth?

I will not open up America by saying that you have to pay more for premium brands. This is also the case Buy Ateca. It must be more expensive than Seat, the only question is - by how much? Seat Atek we will buy, leaving at least PLN 81 in the salon, and this is an acceptable amount for most potential customers. Behind Kupra Ateka however, we need to pay more than twice as much. The basic assortment costs PLN 191, and if we try with the choice of accessories, even less than PLN 900 may disappear from our account. This is a lot, because at this price level we can look at premium brands that do not detract from Cupra, are much more recognizable and appreciated in the market.

In defense Humps However, you must take into account the fact that in other premium brands, upgrading competing models to the level that it offers Ateca, it will cost a lot of money and maybe this is a chance for this car. Go to the salons with a bang, but at the same time with meaning.

With a bang, albeit a little restrained

Finally, I must admit that I have been creating this article for a long time. Only because of the end. I didn't know how to characterize this car. On the one hand, it drives great, looks great, is practical and very fast. On the other hand, however, it is very limited and not as aggressive as I expected. However, this does not change the fact that this is a breakthrough machine. The Spaniards came with a bang Kupra Ateka to the market, showing that there is still a gap among such popular SUVs, and it can be filled with a model that can ruin a lot. And this is exactly what I wish him, because he really can do a lot.
