Dacia Logan MCV 1.5 dCi Laureate (7 months)

Yes, you read that right. The price list on the Dacia website states that for the Logan MCV with a 1-liter diesel engine and the best Laureate equipment, a deduction of € 5 is required. Since this Logan has basically five seats, add another € 10.740 for an extra bench to the price and seven of them can hit the road.

To avoid a tiring trip, we suggest you buy an air conditioner for which you will have to deduct 780 euros, and a radio with a CD player and four speakers, which will cost you 300 euros (if you want one that reads MP3 music, add another 80 euros), and for safe driving, consider the safety package, which includes the front passenger airbags and both side airbags, for which you will have to spend an additional 320 euros. After all this, you will receive a car key that can also compete with some of the more famous models.

Okay, I agree, judging by the design of the Logan MCV, he really isn't handsome, but he's not ugly either. The shape of the dashboard is outdated, and the plastic inside is stiff and less respectable than in the same large Renault 14 years ago, but on the other hand, it is no less "extravagant" than we find in the Kangoo.

Speaking of Kangoo? for the same motorized and equipped (we did not analyze the equipment in detail, we took into account the richest model in the offer), you will have to deduct almost 4.200 euros more. For that money, you can think of everything you find on the Dacia co-pay list and you end up with just under € 2.200. And one more thing: if you choose Kangoo, we warn you to forget about the passengers in the back of the Logan. Kangoo does not have a third type of seat and does not know it.

Thus, the Logan MCV is undoubtedly an interesting choice. There is a lot of space in it. In fact, a huge car for this class. Even when seven people hit the road, the passengers in the back sit surprisingly decently (this is rarely possible with such large seven-seater cars), while leaving room for luggage.

If that's not enough, note that the roof rack brackets are standard in the Laureate package. When there are few passengers in the car, you can literally play around using the interior space. Both benches, both in the second and third rows, are divided and folded. The latter can be removed easily and quickly. The fact that the Logan MCV does not really scare you with large packages is also indicated by the swing doors at the back.

Less impressive is the comfort. Only the driver and co-driver can (feel) how powerful the air conditioner is and how efficient the heating is, since there are no air vents in the back. The seat surfaces are flat, so do not rely on the side supports when cornering. The same is with the backs. Unfortunately, we can't explain why the center console is cut at such an odd angle that the characters on the switches on the right are almost impossible to read, but hey? sits surprisingly well behind the wheel. Much more than Clii. Although only the seat height is adjustable.

The test Logan was also pleasantly surprised by its directional stability and the ease with which it repels air. There is little to no directional correction even at top speed, which we couldn't record for his limousine version with the 1-litre petrol engine (AM 4/15). It handles corners with confidence, as it makes sense to do so with seven passengers in the car, and the engine is a real gem when it comes to cars in this price range. It is no different from Renault or Nissan engines, and therefore we also find everything that modern diesel engines need: common rail direct injection, turbocharger, aftercooler, 2005 kW and 50 Newton meters.

More than enough for a van weighing 1.245 kg with the desire to reach the planned speed. This way, you won't race in the Logan MCV, but you will drive nicely, overtake decently and stop at gas stations with satisfaction. During the test, we measured the consumption, which stopped at around 6 liters per 2 kilometers.

evaluation

  • Let's be honest: Logan MCV's biggest problem is his image. The car is not bad at all. It has a lot of space, it can seat up to seven people, the interior is flexible, and in its nose, if you're willing to pay extra for it, there can be a technologically advanced and extremely economical diesel. If you really walk, then it is with comfort and carefully selected materials.
