ABS sensor Kia Ceed
Content
On the second generation Kia Ceed, the rear ABS sensors are a weak point for many drivers. We will inform you in detail about its replacement.
Symptoms of a malfunctioning ABS sensor
The first sign that your Kia Ceed JD is defective is the light on the dashboard.
It's worth worrying if you don't want to go out a few seconds after starting the engine. Or lights up while driving. There is a fairly long list of problems that ABS sensors can overcome:
- Mechanical failure of Kia Sid parts in this part (for example, bearings, looseness, etc.). If something like this happens, the system simply won't work properly.
- Broken wiring or malfunction of the associated controller. The dashboard at this time shows an error, the system turns off.
- When enabled, the system checks itself to determine the nature of the error. But it still works. The cause of the malfunction may be in the oxidation of the contacts or in a power outage.
- The auxiliary device receives information about the various angular speeds of the wheels. This can happen if the tires have different pressures or different tire patterns. Therefore, the wheels do not brake "in unison".
The most vulnerable part of the Kia Sid system is the wheel sensor, which is located near the movable hub. The impact of dirt, bearing play in this case can easily break the device, thereby blocking the ABS. It will not be difficult to notice this, because along with the indicator on the dashboard, other signals will appear:
- the parking brake signal turns on, although it is off;
- BC Kia Sid will issue the corresponding error code;
- during emergency braking, the wheels are blocked;
- vibration and imperceptibly characteristic sounds after pressing the brake.
In order not to miss anything, you need to remember the codes C1206 - error of the left rear ABS sensor, C1209 - error code of the right rear ABS sensor.
Replacement Parts
These are the part numbers that will come in handy when repairing to replace the original.

Replacing rear ABS sensors Kia Ceed
The replacement procedure does not require a lift or pit. One cat is enough.
The algorithm of actions for Kia Ceed JD is as follows:
- Remove the wheel.
- Spray the ABS sensor with WD fluid until it begins to turn sour.
- Disconnect half of the fender liner from the side of the door to get to the technical hole through which the ABS sensor wiring enters the passenger compartment.
- We disassemble the interior of the Kia Sid JD while the sensor is sinking.
- Remove the trim that the curtain sits on. Then we unscrew a couple of bolts "by 10".
- Remove the seat back. Between them is a plastic pad. It must be removed. Next, unscrew the screw "12" and release the back.
- Remove the threshold trim. We unscrew the three screws, remove the lining of the arch. Unfasten the lining.
- Disconnect the Kia Sid battery, then disconnect the wiring from the sensor.
- We unscrew the bolt "10", remove the sensor. To do this, it is hooked or released. It is advisable to clean the rust on the seat.
- Install a new rear ABS sensor and reassemble in reverse order.

Repair
For repairs, you will need the following parts:
- wire KG 2 × 0,75 - 2 m (not afraid of cold weather, so it will not crack in winter);
- metal hose (inner diameter 8 mm) - 2 m (required to protect the cable from external damage);
- heat shrink tubing - 10/6 - 1 m and 12/6 - 2 m (will help cover the previous spare tire from sand and water).
What to do with the ABS sensor:
- Cut the cable, separate it from the rear sensor and plug.
- Measure the length of the required cable according to the above.
- Put it on the metal hose on the outer section, to the fender of the Kia Sid, then put on the heat shrink tube.
- Solder the ends of the wire and heat the tube with a hair dryer.

Conclusion
Having found a malfunction of the rear ABS sensors, it is necessary to examine the devices before deciding whether to replace or repair them.
Given the price of the sensors on the Kia Sid JD and the delivery time, the repair makes the most sense. Now you know how to act, no matter what decision you make.
