The principle of operation of the sensor is to convert mechanical pressure into an electrical signal. When the ignition key is turned, the sensor contacts are in the closed position, so the low oil pressure warning comes on.
After starting the engine, oil enters the system, the contacts open, and the warning disappears. When the oil level drops while the engine is running, the pressure on the diaphragm decreases, closing the contacts again. In this case, the warning will not go away until the oil level is restored.
